AI still dominated discussion at HLTH USA, but the conversations were more practical and less giddy than they were last year, according to Fierce Healthcare.   Heather Landi, Paige Minemyer, Anastassia Gliadkovskaya and Emma Beavins offered 5 themes from this year’s conference, including thoughts about PBMs, women’s health, psychedelic medicine and more. Amid a wave of rural hospital closures, a few small towns are building new hospitals. Pinedale, WY and Pittsburg, KS are among a handful of communities that will open new hospitals, defying a trend that has seen nearly 150 rural facilities close or convert to smaller operations since 2010. Typically, new health facility construction is limited to small urgent care centers, stand-alone EDs or replacements for old hospitals. According to KFF Health News, some of the new construction is paid for by the USDA’s rural Community Facilities Program.
