Planet Water Foundation is pleased to have partnered with Columbia Sportswear and Indian Designs to bring clean, safe water access to Boys Government PU College in Bangarpeth Village in Kolar district of Karnataka, India. According to the staff, only 13% of rural schools in the area have access to a filtration system and 80% of students fall ill due to lack of clean drinking water on the school premises. With the installation of the AquaTower, this community can now trust that the water they drink will keep them healthy and thriving. “It was a blissful moment to see the happiness on the faces of the children and the school staff after deploying the AquaTower. With the support of Xylem, we installed an AquaTower water filtration system at Ilayang Yuni Elementary School in Mulanay Quezon, Philippines. Before this installation, students and community members had to purchase bottled water daily, placing a significant financial strain on families. Now, with the AquaTower in place, the school and surrounding community have free access to reliable, safe drinking water. “The installation of the AquaTower at my child’s school is a huge relief. I no longer must worry about my child’s health being compromised by unsafe water, knowing they have access to clean drinking water every day. Clean water is the heart of every kitchen and the foundation of every dream. Jeron, a Grade 4 student from Lucena Quezon Province, Philippines, dreams of becoming a chef despite facing challenges as a child with a disability. “Watching my mom cook yummy meals for our family makes me dream of becoming a chef someday. Even though I’ve had challenges with my disability, it won’t stop me from following my passion for cooking. Leveraging digital technology has enabled Planet Water Foundation's team of educators to extend the reach of our Hygiene Education programming to schools across Latin America and Southeast Asia. Since the program launched last year, 'The Germ Chasers' digital education program has received positive feedback from the participating schools in Mexico, the Philippines, and Thailand for creating a change in students' behavior through teaching healthy hygiene practices in the classroom. "Through 'The Germ Chasers', I was able to captivate my students' attention. They are very engaged, and enjoy doing the different practices because of the different characters they met." Thanks to our partnership with Xylem, we recently brought clean water access to two schools in Sa Kaeo Province, Thailand through our AquaTower water filtration systems. These communities previously relied on costly bottled water for their daily drinking needs, posing a burden for low-income earners and students. The children were very excited because they are thirsty at school but don’t want to drink water from the tap because it makes them sick. Now, with confidence, we can tell them to go drink water from the AquaTower.” – Alicia, School Principal Prior to intervention from Planet Water Foundation and Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown NuLu, the students of La Cañada, Jalisco, Mexico relied on water from a tank fed by a cistern. Unfortunately, this water was unsafe to drink, leading to frequent issues with waterborne illnesses. To address this critical issue, an AquaTower water filtration system was deployed at Guillermo Prieto school, providing up to 1,800 students and community members with clean and safe drinking water.
