Allstate Boring & PLG Technologies pipe rammed another 48” casing today. This time we were able to steer it in both vertical directions at will (up & down). We also held a line adjustment to the left for fifty feet and it moved a substantial amount. Everything stayed together and it’s going back in the ground next week to do it all over again.

The CASING COMPASS worked great and our new steerable device is working also, but still have some work that needs to be done.
Allstate Boring and PLG Technologies steered a pipe ram and hit the target! We learned some good information and were very impressed with our new 24” TT pipe ram.

Congrats to Dunigan Brothers Inc on completing a difficult 260 foot bore in rocky soil. They installed a CASING COMPASS as insurance after the completed pilot tube, and they were glad they did!! They ended up abandoning the PT and conventionally steering the last 180’. The CASING COMPASS and its ability to relay instant accurate data helped them make decisions and better execute a difficult situation. Congrats to Dunigan Bros., Inc on completing a 260 foot bore in difficult soil. They installed a CASING COMPASS on the lead joint of casing as insurance after completing the pilot tube, and they were glad they did!! Soil conditions dictated abandoning the PT and conventionally steering the bore for the remaining 180 feet. The CASING COMPASS and its ability to relay instant and accurate information remotely, allowed Dunigan Bros., Inc to navigate and make the best of a difficult situation. The CASING COMPASS saves time and tooling!!
Casing Compass from PLG Technologies proved its worth on this 205’ of 48” at 0.28%. With six feet of cover and less under I-69, and stiff gray clays, Powers Welding elected to use the GBM to install pilot tubes and go directly to a 48” cutterhead. At 17’ in, the Casing Compass showed an immediate negative slope, which deviated off our positive designed slope. We were able to stop, pull augers, make a correction inside the casing, and resume auger boring. The Casing Compass allowed us to watch slope correct in real time and save very expensive tooling and time. This device has multiple functions. For GBM guys, it is a water level, roll indicator, and shows slope in real time. It was the real time data that allowed the operator to stop.
