We're all in this work of improving healthcare through technology, smart strategies and transformation together.
I know there are a lot of strong feelings about the election results today. As the CEO of a health IT consultancy, we remain politically neutral and bullish on health IT. Even in a landscape of division, health IT remains one of the few areas where there’s consistent agreement: technology is essential for improving our healthcare system and the quality of care we deliver. Since founding POCP in 2002, I’ve witnessed six U.S. presidential elections —each administration bringing its distinct vision and priorities, each leaving its unique imprint on healthcare. Regardless of which political party has held the highest office, there has been a commitment to leveraging technology to improve healthcare as evidenced by the federal government establishing the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) in 2004 under a Republican administration. Earlier this year we saw a reminder of that dedication when ONC’s scope expanded, and the agency was reestablished as the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy (ASTP) under a Democratic administration. This shared understanding gives me hope as we continue working to bridge the gaps, ensuring health IT remains a vital force for progress and a better, more patient-centered system for all.
