#PolydeckProTip: Maximize Screening Efficiency with Proper Spray Bar Utilization In wet screening applications, the correct use of spray bars is critical to maintaining screening efficiency and minimizing material buildup. To optimize performance, follow these key water application guidelines: ✅ Rule of Thumb: Apply 3-5 GPM (gallons per minute) of water per TPH (ton per hour) of feed material. ✅ Spray Bar Spacing: For most applications, maintain a spray bar spacing of 10-12 inches with a pressure of 30-40 PSI, depending on material type. ✅ Material-Specific Guidelines: For high-clay content materials, such as stone & clay washing, increase water flow to 5-10 GPM per ton. For sand & gravel rinsing, 2-3 GPM per ton is sufficient to prevent plugging and ensure proper material stratification. ✅ PSI Adjustments: Stone rinsing and re-washing often require higher water pressure (40 PSI) to ensure thorough cleaning, while applications like coal sizing can maintain efficiency at 30 PSI. Correct water distribution ensures that fines are washed away, reducing screen wear and improving throughput, especially in materials prone to sticking. With properly configured spray bars, you’ll reduce downtime and keep your screening system running at peak efficiency. “The most transformative experiences I’ve had at Polydeck have been during our trips to Nicaragua with Chosen Children Ministries. Over the years, I’ve built strong relationships with the local workers and families. It’s incredible to witness how some people there have been able to sustain themselves and provide for their families, despite such difficult circumstances. It’s a privilege to pray with them, to see their openness. In the U.S., people don’t let you into their homes so easily. They might not even answer the door. But in Nicaragua, they welcome you. They’re not afraid to ask for help. One time, we were doing door-to-door evangelism, and I met a pregnant woman whose baby had the umbilical cord wrapped around its neck. We prayed together, and I could feel the Spirit moving. We all walked away in tears. She was crying, we were crying—it was one of those moments where you just know God is at work. In my day-to-day at Polydeck, I try to live by a simple motto: ‘Go after it. Don’t wait for it.’ If something needs to be done, I get it done safely and efficiently. And outside of work, my faith guides me. God has blessed my family more than we deserve. If there’s ever a chance for us to bless others, we take it. He’s given us so much, so we do whatever we can to give back. At work, I owe a lot to Jimmy. If it weren’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be here today. He’s a tough guy, but he’s always fought for me. When I was going through hard times, he trusted me and had my back. That kind of loyalty means everything.” Jeramie Britt | Shipping #PeopleOfPolydeck

What to do when downtime and throughput issues disrupt operations... At the Bell Creek gold mine in Ontario, the team was facing frequent downtime and inefficient dewatering due to severe blinding on their trash circuit screens. PROBLEMS ❌ Increased downtime from manual cleaning due to fibrous blasting material residue. ❌ Poor dewatering that reduced throughput and increased energy use. ❌ A secondary screen was needed, adding complexity and cost. STEPS TAKEN ✅ After assessing the issues on-site, custom Polydex® slotted panels were installed in rows 1-4 and VR panels in rows 5-6. ✅ Competitor panels were left in place on the remaining rows for performance comparison. ✅ The new Polydex® panels effectively resisted blinding and improved dewatering efficiency. ✅ The solution eliminated the need for a secondary screen, streamlining the process and reducing operational costs. RESULTS Throughput increased by 32%, and the drain rate more than doubled. The screen’s capacity was boosted by 100%, and maintenance downtime was minimized. With the bypass of the secondary screen, the operation saw significant savings in energy and maintenance.

In demanding screening operations, near-size particle plugging is a persistent issue that hampers throughput, reduces efficiency, and leads to costly maintenance shutdowns. Our HVR aperture shape generates controlled secondary movement, promoting self-cleaning that clears near-size particles before they can clog apertures. This ensures better material flow and consistent screening performance over time. The unique shape of the HVR aperture improves particle stratification and separation, enhancing screening accuracy while preventing blockages. Designed for large-sizing and high-impact applications, the HVR Aperture Design ensures reliable operation under heavy loads and abrasive conditions, resulting in fewer maintenance interruptions and improved overall productivity.
