The Port of Virginia and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company co-hosted the 4th Annual Exporting Smiles Tournament 2024 earlier this month at Top Golf Virginia Beach. The event raised more than $91,000 to benefit Operation Smile, a Virginia-based global charity that provides free cleft surgery and related medical care to those who need it most. A special thank you goes out to our 18 sponsors and more than 175 attendees. #PortofVirginia #AmericasMostModernGateway #DynamicPartnership #FutureForwardMindset #OperationalExcellence #OperationSmile #Fundraising #Charity #Community

The Port of Virginia is proud to have partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the City of Hampton, and Amazon to complete a 158-foot living shoreline at Bluebird Gap Farm earlier this month. More than 100 volunteers across multiple organizations worked together on the living shoreline project that will help improve the overall health of the Chesapeake Bay. What are living shorelines? 🍃 Sustainable, natural approach to protecting tidal shoreline from erosion 🌱 Utilize native wetland plants, grasses, shrubs, trees, and other natural materials 🐢 Create a better shoreline habitat for wildlife 💧 Improve water quality by settling sediment and filtering pollution Read more about the project at https://lnkd.in/eWrKC_7d. #PortofVirginia #AmericasMostModernGateway #DynamicPartnership #FutureForwardMindset #OperationalExcellence #SaveTheBay #ChesapeakeBay #Environment #Sustainability #Community #Volunteering

The Port of Virginia reposted this
It was an honor to have been able to attend the the ribbon cutting ceremony for IMC Logistics this morning at their highly anticipated new location in Chesapeake. Jeff Banton and the entire team are fantastic partners to The Port of Virginia and I look forward to success for both of our organizations. I even got to connect with some old industry friends.

Our cargo operations have halted due to the impasse in contract negotiations between USMX and the ILA. With no new agreement in place, it is unclear how long this work stoppage will last. As a resource, we have posted FAQs and will provide updates to customers and partners at https://lnkd.in/ee3zmEjs. What you need to know today: ▪ Norfolk International Terminals (NIT), Virginia International Gateway (VIG), Newport News Marine Terminal (NNMT), Pinners Point Container Yard (PPCY), Portsmouth Chassis Yard (PCY), Reefer Service Area (RSA), and the Damage Annex have ceased cargo operations ▪ The office of the Virginia Port Authority (VPA), Virginia International Terminals (VIT), and Hampton Roads Chassis Pool II (HRCP II) are open in accordance with their regular schedules. Richmond Marine Terminal (RMT) and Virginia Inland Port (VIP) will operate normally, but cargo operations will be impacted. Portsmouth Marine Terminal (PMT) will operate as normal ▪ Our hope is for a speedy resolution that allows The Port of Virginia to implement its resumption of operations plan and methodically and safely bring terminals back online ▪ For media inquiries, please contact Joe Harris, Spokesman, at jharris@portofvirginia.com
