Approval of Xavier Urbain as a new board member. With leadership experience as Group CEO of CEVA Logistics and executive roles at Kuehne + Nagel, he brings strong logistics expertise to Maersk. Recognising the potential of unused fresh water from our ships, a simple idea by Dilip Viswajit Vishwanathan, Abhishek Balikai, and other environmentally conscious colleagues at Maersk, have grown into a powerful movement. The team has successfully trialed moving the clean water to ports that are experiencing water scarcity for essential tasks such as cleaning facilities, ship repairs, and maintenance. But the vision extends beyond ports. The fresh water can become a beacon of hope for humanitarian efforts by transporting it to inland areas and support communities struggling with water shortages and in need of aid. The dedicated team is working closely with organisations across geographical regions who share our vision. Ports are a critical link between land and sea in the world’s supply chains – making them an important focal and collaboration point in our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In our APM Terminals business, we have set a commitment to be fully net zero by 2040, and to reduce our scope 1 (emissions from operating our business) and scope 2 (indirect emissions from the energy we purchase) by 65% by 2030.    To get there, we are increasing our use of renewable electricity, replacing fossil fuel equipment with electric, and learning smarter ways to do more with less - together with many decision-makers, local authorities, port authorities and governments. As part of these commitments, APM Terminals was one of the founding partners of the Zero Emission Port Alliance (ZEPA) in 2023, an industry-wide global coalition with the vision of accelerating port decarbonisation.   #maersk  #apmterminals #supplychain  #decarbonisation

Right now, Alva Mærsk and crew are navigating the South China Sea, delivering our customers’ goods. 🍾 Adding to this special occasion, Site Administrator, Ms. Jamie Ban had the honour of serving as Alva Mærsk’s Godmother, a time-honoured maritime tradition believed to bring good luck and protection to the ship and its crew throughout their journeys. What’s in a name? This series carries forward our legacy of connecting vessel names to the A.P. Moller – Maersk founding family. Alva Maersk takes its name from Alva Mc-Kinney, the uncle of Chastine Mc-Kinney, who married A.P. Møller in 1910. Friday Fun Fact: 📏Alva Mærsk measures 350M x 53.5M! ⚖️Lightweight: 47,700 Tonnes – weighing the same as approx. 31,000 average family cars.
