🌟 Elevating WOSB: The Power of Our Collective Voice! 🌟 I had the incredible opportunity to attend a transformative event hosted by The The BOW Collective in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU). The event brought together over 100 Black Women-Owned Small Businesses to engage in dynamic panel discussions, matchmaking, and networking. We explored critical 4th quarter opportunities and strategies for growth within the agency, and the energy in the room was palpable. 💡The BDPA 2024 Conference was an INCREDIBLE experience! The impact between connecting with esteemed leaders in their subject matters, and digesting the robust elements of their perspectives was phenomenal. The speakers, panelists & innovators addressed many topics in tech during the sessions/workshops that were impactful. However, their dedication to DEI in the midst of their presentations — speaking to access to resources, educational barriers and hidden opportunities — is where they exemplify the importance of why we have these conversations. From being a learner, working behind the scenes, and networking at the forefront, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to interact with amazing people doing great things in the tech ecosystem & Black community. 👏🏾 I’m looking forward to continuing efforts towards a great experience to come and pushing the initiative for DEI in this space. Especially as a black woman involved in entrepreneurship & information technology, my devotion is always amplified after BDPA conferences. I am extremely proud of all the work being done among the award winners alongside the day to day winners immersed within the conference. 💡Approximately 59% of Americans are just one paycheck away from experiencing homelessness. This alarming figure highlights the fragile economic conditions many face. During the onset of COVID 19 Premier's own Farzal Ahmed started an initiative to provide hot meals to Washington D.C.'s homeless. In 4 years, he and his team have not missed a Sunday and have prepared and distributed over 10,000 home-cooked meals. Farzal's' effort reminds us that those in our community deserve our compassion and support regardless of their circumstances. With homelessness rising by 12% in 2023, the need for support is urgent. On Sunday, July 21st, a team of Premier employees, along with friends and family helped Farzal and "Chef" Syed Mazhar distribute delicious hot food, cold iced tea and water bottles to approximately 80 people ranging in age, gender and ethnicities. Homelessness can impact anyone, anywhere. The staggering 12% increase in homelessness over the past year underscores the urgent need for action.
