About us
Agriculture has changed a lot since 1983 when Bill and Marsha Prestage started Prestage Farms in North Carolina. But today, we still farm and operate our businesses with the same family values they instilled 40 years ago as we strive to produce top-quality pork and turkey. The Prestage Farms family of companies now includes our base in North Carolina as well as farm production divisions located in South Carolina, Mississippi, Iowa, and Oklahoma. In addition, we have three different protein processing divisions: Prestage Foods in North Carolina (turkey) and Prestage Foods of Iowa (pork), and Prestage Foods in South Carolina (turkey). Our Prestage Farms and Prestage Foods team of more than 2,700 employees and 450 contractor farm families share a commitment to food safety and the well-being of our animals, our environment, and our communities that we call home. Together, we embrace the Prestage family values of doing each job well and treating people fairly while continually looking for ways to improve and advance the processes that allow us to produce the highest quality pork and turkey at a reasonable cost.

Keeping the refrigeration systems properly maintained in our turkey and pork plants is critical to our daily operations. And employee training is one tool that helps us be our best in this area. Earlier this month, Alton Locklear and Josue Sorto of the Prestage Foods turkey plant in North Carolina spent their work week engaged in ammonia refrigeration operator training at Sampson Community College. With both classroom instruction and hands-on lab training, Alton and Josue were able to learn more about what it takes to successfully operate a refrigeration system. At Prestage, we are grateful to have access to SCC ‘s operator training program and instructor Fran Leerkes who has over 42 years experience in food industry engineering and maintenance.

Veterinary students Hannah Lathom and Hunter Everett were honored in April with the Hanns-Dieter Alhusen Swine Proficiency Awards at the 40th annual awards banquet of the North Carolina State University- College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Glen Almond (center), professor of swine health and production management, presented the awards. Both Hannah and Hunter graduate this week. We understand that Hannah will be working with The Maschhoffs and we are looking forward to Hunter joining us at Prestage Farms! Congratulations to both! 📸 creds: NC State CVM, NC Pork Council

We pause here at the close of National Lineman Appreciation Day to say thank you to all of the lineworkers who help ensure reliable electric service for our farms, feed mills, and other facilities across the states where we operate. We appreciate what you do daily in maintaining and repairing the lines that power our business. And we extend a special thanks for your work in times of crisis, like hurricanes and other storms. #thankalineman
