A new survey finds overall job satisfaction is booming. But does this rosy picture paint over crucial details? In fact, the Conference Board survey probes 26 specific subcomponents of satisfaction (such as work-life balance). All are heading downward, suggesting the happy mood at work may be more fragile than it looks. Our viewpoint: a single, top-line measure of “satisfaction” can’t tell the entire story.
