It was a pleasure to mentor and have Grace on our team. We were impressed with her input during her internship at Prime. We wish her all the best as she moves on to the next chapter!

A few weeks ago, I finished up my spring Industrial Design Internship with Prime Studio. I want to thank the team for their amazing mentorship, as well as their support in the next steps of my early career. I'm excited to be joining Lenovo this summer for what will be my final ID internship before taking on my senior year!

When our founder, Stuart Harvey Lee, was pursuing his MDes at the Royal College of Art, he set off on a summer journey to Japan for an internship at a small design agency called Saurus in Tokyo. His invaluable experience there continues to shape the way we approach internships here at Prime Studio. “It really was a life-changing experience for me,” he says “I’d never been further than Italy before so, of course, the culture shock was immense and also hugely inspirational. Equally important though was the way that the President and the designers at Saurus mentored me even with the language barriers we had. My fledgling design skillset was not a patch on theirs but they took the time to teach me their approach to design and found projects which fit the things I could do and would succeed at. They were also genuinely interested in my opinions and I even got to sit in on some client presentations. I left Japan realizing I could work anywhere in the world”. We try and apply those same principles of patience and mentorship to our interns here at Prime Studio. They always work on ‘live’ projects because we think it’s important for them to be exposed to real-world design constraints as opposed to the theory of the classroom. And we always try and make sure they are either working in areas where they have expressed either an interest or a desire to improve. We are proud of our former interns, and we're always thrilled to witness their remarkable achievements in the design industry! Read more about 'Where are they now': https://lnkd.in/ghKGkWkP.
