Currently: Team Angela Alsobrooks. Always: Interdisciplinary communications professional committed to climate action. 20+ years experience in journalism & advocacy comms to advance smart climate change policy.

This morning I was joined by Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Barry Stanton to accept a generous donation of $10,000 from the Prince George’s County chapter of Epsilon Phi Boulé Foundation to support the Alsobrooks Administration’s ongoing work to address Food Insecurity in our community. I was especially proud to represent the Administration for this meeting, because, let’s be clear— Food Security is a climate change issue. Having worked for years on programs to understand, address and communicate about climate impacts in front line communities, I’ve seen how rising global temperatures, extreme weather events, and shifting agricultural patterns disrupt food production and supply chains. It will continue as droughts, floods, and unpredictable growing seasons reduce crop yields, making food scarcer and more expensive. What’s more— these climate impacts disproportionately affect Black and brown communities. Food Insecurity is a key priority for the Alsobrooks Administration. That’s why the County Executive opened the Office of Food Security within the Department of Social Services in 2022. Through strategic partnerships and intragency collaboration we continue to grow and evolve our approach to addressing this important climate change issue. And we’re so grateful to amazing community partners like Epsilon Phi Boulé for their leadership and support in this space.

Last week, we proudly appointed Pamela Ford Dickerson as the inaugural Director of our newest agency—the Office of Procurement (OOP). This new agency and director appointment is a testament of our administration’s commitment to improving quality, equity, and efficiency in the procurement process in Prince George’s. Through the OOP, we can further strengthen our support of small, local, and minority-owned businesses. Since July 2023, Pamela has served as Deputy Director of the Office of Central Services (OCS), which previously housed our Procurement Office. She has over 20 years of experience in managing complex procurement operations, including public procurement, contract compliance, and public policy. Pamela is well qualified to lead this agency and we look forward to the great work soon-to-come from the Office of Procurement! #PrinceGeorgesProud Learn more: procurement.mypgc.us

  • HBCUs have been catalysts for many talented and innovative individuals across various disciplines. Prince George's County, Maryland is the proud home of Bowie State University, and we are excited to highlight BSU and President Dr. Aminta Breaux as our partners during National HBCU Week, as we continue supporting them in reaching new heights. HBCUs make higher education more accessible and feasible for many historically marginalized groups, and they deserve community support and continued investments from governments for a more equitable and inclusive future of education.
