Celebrating our “Firsts”🛡 This past week, July 21-22nd, we hosted our Inaugural Prisms Paladin Convention. I’ve long believed that it’s not historical events that tell us the real story, rather the relationships between the people behind these events and movements. Our first Paladin Convention was intended to memorialize this important moment in time for education reform, and the love and adoration between the courageous educators who chose to depart from our antiquated math and science teaching methods that have left millions of children asking the question “why am I learning this, why does this matter, and worst, why am I here?” The first group of educators who have been in the trenches with us day in and day out over the past 4 years building the infrastructure to make this a reality for every child in the US — got to finally meet in-person in SF last week, and celebrate being a teacher in 2024! Building Together 🧱 Prisms is a movement of thought, that’s fast evolving and defining what it will mean to be a math and science teacher in the next decade, with next generation technologies that will transform the learning process into one that’s personal because it’s connected to self, our more natural ways of expression, bodies, tactile, active and relevant to change we want to see the world. At our inaugural gathering, we launched Prisms 2024 - which included the unveiling of lots of new learning content (including middle school science!), our new kinesthetic skill building modules for ongoing procedural practice but with deep spatial and kinesthetic meaning making, our new spatialized hint agent that changes the game from 2D video hints to fully 3D explanations with multimodal tools, screencasting on our teacher dashboard for high quality Socratic discourse between teachers and students amongst many many new features! Our Paladins’ suggestions and guidance around the teacher upskilling / coaching, new content, classroom implementation and data needs were invaluable as we get ready for Prisms 2025! Looking Ahead 🔮 As we start the 2024-2025 academic year- We are so excited for each of you to inspire the next cohort of teachers to take the transformational step in bringing Prisms' experiential learning model to more deserving students. It’s a serious year as we measure our impact at scale, launch in 300+ US K-12 school districts, serve over 50% of the largest 50 school districts in our country across 35 states. We cannot and will not be able to achieve our vision without teachers who take risks to improve our craft, and it began with our first ever 48 Paladins - Thank you for believing in Prisms. For our students to be inspired, our teachers must be inspired. We spent the last few months across hundreds of our districts capturing student and teacher sentiments. It was heartbreaking to hear about the teachers who were considering leaving, but equally as heartwarming to hear that Prisms' rigorous new learning design, instructional model, and exponentially growing teacher community have created spaces for our teachers to intellectually engage at the highest levels with instructional methods that are rapidly elevating the field of teaching and learning in their communities. And by natural consequence -- their students' confidence, desire to be in school, engagement with their education, and academic outcomes. Prisms is building a new educational model where the purpose of school is to fall in love with the problems our children will dedicate their lives to solving. This idea evolved with the intent of creating a community of educators who have a passion for building the next generation of STEM education with Prisms of Reality. Through the creation and facilitation of this community, Prisms educators will have the space to share, collaborate, model, learn, improve, capture, and foster the success of Prisms’ experiential learning experiences across the country, and world. These community members will act as and be pioneers of their time carrying the Prism ‘flag’ exuding a deep level of pride and adoration on behalf of students and teachers everywhere. 🛡 How we are defining a Paladin:   Prism Paladins are a cadre of elite educational leaders with an unwavering passion for students and education. Prisms Paladins are inspirational, innovative, champions leading the Prisms movement, our new world instructional model powered by spatial computing, and lead with student impact and teacher development top of mind. Paladins blaze through barriers to ensure every student can experience success in the math and science classroom through solving current and compelling real-world problems, and understanding that this is not a technology but a pedagogy. Paladins see it as their mission to develop the next generation of thinkers who can utilize the frameworks of Math and Science to solve the most pressing human problems while achieving success in subjects that have held students back for decades.
