EHRs have been widely available for two decades now, but there are still major challenges in integrating them into clinical practice. A recent ABFM study on EHR satisfaction finds that of 10,000 responding family physicians, only one-in-four (26.2%) report being very satisfied, and one-in-three (33.8%) were not satisfied. Despite ongoing efforts, the U.S. continues to face a growing primary care workforce shortage, exacerbated by an aging population, increased healthcare demands, and heightened burnout.
