Earlier this week, the team at Project Hire-Ed had the opportunity to attend the Apprenticeship Illinois Bootcamp. It was two days full of learning and engaging conversations with colleagues from across the state. Our goal is to consistently serve as a high-impact apprenticeship intermediary for DuPage County. Attending events like this ensures we are using best practices and staying at the forefront of work-based learning. These educators will spend the next year in a co-hort program learning on-the-job and in the classroom at the childcare centers where they work, in a Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program. The 2024 Apprenticeship Employer Roundtable aims to engage with employers, showcase the benefits of apprenticeships, and address both real and perceived obstacles to launching apprenticeship programs in their regions. The event will feature a business-to-business (B2B) format, where employers with successful apprenticeship programs will share insights on the challenges they faced and the return on investment (ROI) they’ve experienced through Registered Apprenticeships (RA). Attendees will also gain access to valuable resources and connections to help them get started. Apprenticeships offer a proven solution for businesses to recruit, train, and retain a skilled workforce. In Illinois, apprenticeship programs span diverse industries, including insurance, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, hospitality, construction and trades, energy, transportation, the public sector, IT, HR, and more.
