How Can Guidelines Give Clearer Guidance on Prostate Cancer Screening? Viewpoint out on JAMA Oncology by Sigrid Carlsson & William Oh https://lnkd.in/d8_c2teV Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and second leading cause of cancer death among men in the U.S., yet screening guidelines are inconsistent and confusing compared to clear mammogram guidelines for women. While randomized clinical trials (RCTs) show that prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening can reduce prostate cancer mortality by 30% over two decades, there is significant variation in recommendations from different guideline groups. The need for unified and clear guidelines on prostate cancer screening is critical to ensure better outcomes and reduce confusion among patients and healthcare providers.
