Employee Spotlight: Wm. David Berkley, Vice President. Dave's career trajectory is a prime example of P.T. Ferro's commitment to career growth & employee investment. The company’s support has enabled him to take on new challenges, refine his skills, and grow into new roles. Dave’s career began in August 1997 when he joined PT Ferro fresh out of high school and still figuring out his future. He quickly found himself drawn to construction. "Every day is different," Dave shares. "This industry moves fast, and while it can be stressful it creates a space where quick thinkers thrive." Inspired by his father, who worked at PT Ferro until his retirement a decade ago, Dave learned the values of hard work and perseverance. "My dad taught me about dedication and believing in yourself," Dave recalls. "He showed me there was room for growth if you wanted it bad enough." Over the years, Dave's role has evolved significantly. Today, as Vice President, he supports a dedicated team of superintendents, project managers, and various staff members. "My biggest responsibility is supporting everyone in their individual roles so that we all succeed as a group," he explains. “Given the number of projects we are bidding & building at any given time, as well as the total effort that goes into successfully managing this work, there are constant challenges faced along the way." Looking ahead, Dave is excited about the future of P.T. Ferro and his role in shaping its success. "My biggest goal is to help manage and grow our business, to educate and improve our staff, and leave things better than they were before I came along," he says. With a deep respect for the company's history and the groundwork laid by those before him, Dave is committed to continuing the tradition of excellence at P.T. Ferro. 🌟 Employee Spotlight: Al Roerig, Quality Control Manager 🌟 Meet Al Roerig, our dedicated Quality Control Manager, whose journey into construction began at the age of 19 in 1989. Starting at Testing Service Corp and gaining diverse experiences across various companies, Al joined PT Ferro in July 2007 and has been a cornerstone of our success ever since. Role: Al ensures the quality of materials, from HMA to recycled products, and oversees three in house QC Techs. He and his team develop all our HMA mix designs in-house, striving to cut costs and get materials approved for state and local use. Passion: Al loves the comprehensive building process and the family-like environment at PT Ferro. His favorite project? The award-winning I-55 Add Lane Project between I-80 & Black Road project of 2008. Advice: For those entering the industry, Al emphasizes the importance of passion, knowledge, hard work, and adaptability. He looks forward to the future, eager to grow his department and train the next generation to handle big projects with confidence. Achievement: Receiving the Contractor of the Year award from IDOT for the I-55 project stands out as a crowning accomplishment in his career.
