This morning, our President & Founder, Angel had the honor of speaking at the Sister Cities Project EcoHUB Community Event at HeARTSpace, leading a conversation on “Purpose-Driven Business: Aligning Profit with Impact.” We believe that doing good isn’t just a nice-to-have. Angel shared insights on how companies can integrate social impact into their mission in a way that’s both authentic & sustainable. Doing good shouldn’t just be a side project, it should be the foundation of how we operate. A huge thank you to Leslie & Sister Cities Project for inviting Angel to speak & for creating this incredible space for connection & learning. Mentorship just hits differently when you’ve been in the game for a while! You’d think after 15 years in business, I’d have it all figured out. NOPE. 🥴 That’s why I surround myself with smart, passionate people who push me, challenge me, and remind me why this work matters. Yesterday, a friend in my mentorship group said: “The work we do every day is a form of protest.” I felt that in my soul and woke up this morning STILL thinking about it. I can’t unhear it. It’s a reminder that just showing up, fighting for change, and advocating for equity is an act of resistance. I’m so grateful for my crew - Shelby, Rebecca, Sharyn, Jena, and Karen. We never stop learning from and growing with each other. 💫

Ya’ll a lil rain couldn’t stop our community from showing up strong last night to celebrate Black businesses at the Chase (Impact for Coaching) event, hosted in partnership by City Heights Community Development and United Women of East Africa Support Team - UWEAST! We had an incredible panel discussion (w/ panelists Bethlehem Degu, MPH, Kamaal Martin, Jamaéla Johnson, MPA, Mercedes Tiggs, LCSW, Amaya Ford-Marrs, Alex Waters, and Bernice Jackson) and powerful conversations about how Black-owned businesses not only survive but thrive - even in the face of challenges and obstacles. We keep pushing, we don’t quit, and we continue to build a future where our businesses and communities flourish. 💪🏾✨ An added bonus? Connecting with our amazing colleagues from United Women of East Africa Support Team - UWEAST (Bethlehem Degu, MPH, Sahra Abdi, Anna S., and Sarah Tuakli Cooper) and Sister Cities Project (Shawn McClondon, Leslie Bridges, and Courtney Dade).
