One genus of Angelfish that are unlikely to nip at corals in reef aquariums are Genicanthus spp., a group better known as Swallowtail Angels. They get this name from their crescent shaped tails which they share with the small fighter jet birds called swallows. Learn more.....https://lnkd.in/gDszKfzF

This year I had the wonderful opportunity to work at the Quality Marine booth at Reefapalooza California. As someone who got their start in the industry as a hobbyist, it was a dream to be able to be on the other side of the booth. Getting to talk to the attendees and sharing some of the great projects we have going on at Quality Marine was a joy. Of particular note was the Tropical Marine Center Kreisel 10 jellyfish tank, which I made sure everyone who came to the booth got a good look at. In addition to working at the booth, I also had the pleasure of picking out the corals that Quality Marine had on display. This was particularly enjoyable because we raffled off two of these corals to lucky hobbyists, and seeing their faces when they realize they can pick any coral in the tank was priceless. Getting to work with Kevin Kohen and the passionate crew at the Quality Marine booth was also a blast, so make sure not to miss the Quality Marine booth at the next show. Going back to my hobbyist roots though, I of course had to walk the floor and see what the other vendors had to bring. I had set a goal for myself of not coming home with any new animals this year, and I was almost successful, up until the last day of the show. To my surprise however, one of the vendors had brought frags of fox coral. As this was my first time seeing some in person, I had to get my hands on a frag. I also had to make a stop at my second favorite booth, Two Little Fishies and its owner, Julian Sprung. The master of mangroves lived up to his reputation and had nearly every other person at the show going home with a mangrove. Since I already have a mangrove myself, I instead went home with sea grass propagules, which in my opinion are just as cool. As one of, if not the largest, publisher in the industry, Two Little Fishies brought a good selection of literature to the show as well. This year, I added the Diadema Culture Manual by Martin A. Moe to my collection, thanks to Two Little Fishies. All in all, I had a fantastic time with Quality Marine at Reefapalooza this year, and I’m looking forward to more shows to come! #reefkeeping #coral #reefapalooza

Every once in a while, the ocean presents us with something different. Sometimes it's two fish hybridizing and producing an offspring that we rarely see. On much more rare occasions, nature produces us a genetic anomaly that results in something gorgeous and different. In some cases, this is a totally unique aberration....Read more https://lnkd.in/g4Vx8tEf

We are so honored to receive the 1st Place in the Aquatic New Product Showcase Award for the TMC Jellyfish Kreisels. These aquariums take up very little space, so they're ideal for areas that you see a lot but where there isn't a ton of extra room. The actual assembly of the Tropical Marine Centre Ltd Kreisel tank is really straightforward: rinse the media well, put in the media and the filter pads then fill with saltwater.
