Good news! Long Island Children's Museum was recently awarded $20K from the National Park Service through the New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation National Maritime Heritage Education Subgrant Program with our grant-preparation help. The Museum will use these funds to deepen the relationship with members of the nearby Shinnecock Nation, who will create a traditional dugout canoe (mishoon). The mishoon will be a key feature in “Saltwater Stories,” a new exhibition exploring the maritime history and culture of Long Island from pre-contact to the present. Congratulations, LICM! Did you know we don’t just work with museums, we also work with orchestras? (And performing-arts groups. And historical societies. And public gardens.) Effective and compelling case statements are at the heart of every successful funding request—for any nonprofit. We just completed a project for our newest client, Ohio’s Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra, to audit their development materials as a first step toward case-statement preparation. Reach out and let’s talk about how R&L’s know-how can help your organization make the strongest case to funders. R&L Consulting: https://lnkd.in/eq6Y8Yw4

We couldn’t be more pleased to have collaborated with the South Carolina State Museum on their successful $250,000 Institute of Museum and Library Services Museums for America grant, which will help make their valuable natural-history specimens even more widely available for use by museum staff, researchers, and the public. The project encompasses key paleontological holdings, specifically, fossils from the Camelot fossil site (Harleyville, SC). Congratulations, Dave Cicimurri and the entire SCSM team! We’re delighted to have partnered in the The Heckscher Museum of Art's successful Institute of Museum and Library Services Museums for America $250,000 award, which will support the first-ever solo retrospective of American neoclassical sculptor, Emma Stebbins. (If you’ve ever been to New York City’s Central Park, you may already be familiar with her “Angel of the Waters,” the centerpiece of the Bethesda Fountain.) Congratulations to you and your team, Heather Arnet! As one of our southeastern team members said while working on the application, “This is an exhibit I would totally travel for!” Hope some of you will, too. It’s always helpful to have a second set of eyes on a grant proposal. We’re proud to share that our review helped the Cable Natural History Museum to secure $146,695 in Institute of Museum and Library Services Museums for America funding to support the interpretation of the story of Wisconsin’s Northwoods. Congratulations Rich Jaworski and team! If you plan to submit an IMLS application this fall, get in touch to schedule a review that can help give your application an edge. It’s cost-effective, and you’ll benefit from seasoned pros who have landed $7M in IMLS grants to date. R&L Consulting: https://lnkd.in/eq6Y8Yw4

We're thrilled to announce that we've been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the third consecutive year! This prestigious Museums for America Program grant will support our innovative "Desert to the Stars" project, an interactive climber exhibit exploring the natural environment of Southern Nevada. Among 347 applications, our project was recognized for its exceptional merit and innovative approach to lifelong learning and community engagement. Here’s what you can look forward to with "Desert to the Stars": 🌟 Promoting curiosity and exploration of the natural environment 🌟 Strengthening gross motor skills and physical activity 🌟 Modulating excess sound in the museum 🌟 Providing a welcoming, accessible environment for all ages and abilities 🌟 Prioritizing the safety of all guests This centerpiece exhibit will combine immersive technology and interactive components. It will take visitors on a journey from the "desert floor" to the "sky and stars," teaching them about environmental science, biology, and astronomy along the way. We're excited to continue providing unique and engaging learning experiences for our community. Stay tuned for updates on the fabrication, installation, and evaluation of this reimagined exhibit over the next two years! Thank you, IMLS, the Association of Children's Museums, and our Nevada delegation, for your continued support in empowering young learners through curiosity, innovation, and engagement. Together, we are shaping the future of DISCOVERY!

We’re happy to share that we’ve just wrapped up a collaboration with a new client: ExpandED Schools, an NYC-based nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that all young people have access to enriching programs that affirm their identities, teach them valuable skills, and spark new possibilities in and out of the school day. R&L Consulting assisted with two applications to the U.S. Department of Education Innovation and Research Program by providing feedback on research study design, including reviewing pertinent academic literature, logic models, outcome measures, and analysis plans. The two projects, Career-Connected Learning and High-Impact Tutoring, are designed to improve student learning by addressing the impact of instructional loss during COVID through STEM Career Training and Internship, and individualized academic support. If awarded, these important projects will extend the critical work ExpandED Schools is doing to support NYC students, and we’re pleased to have supported this effort! All month long, I’m talking about getting #grantready for an Institute of Museum and Library Services application this fall. Next up: Supporting documents. You can include information that supports the need for your project. These can range from relevant evaluation data to letters of support from experts or stakeholders. For the latter, aim high! Ask for letters from three people and plan to use the strongest two. Asking early allows you to start at the top of your list… and buys extra time in case you need to make additional requests. (Bonus hint: Ask for letters as Word docs, so you can tweak as needed before converting to PDFs.) IMLS Grant Programs: https://lnkd.in/e6Wi9kUK R&L Consulting: https://lnkd.in/eZt5TXQJ
