Powering good work.

About us

At Raben, our work isn’t simply transactional; we are driven to build lasting relationships centered around shared values and a collective vision for a better world. We lead by example, going above and beyond to support our clients' goals. Our work to change cultural narratives, build coalitions, and fill unmet needs in society is helping to shift the faces of power and influence in America. We’ve chosen client services as the manner through which we pursue our vision for a more equitable, just and fair America, because we’ve found this platform to be an effective means to engage the levers of power in our society — government, business, nonprofits, and philanthropy.

Calling all #BookLovers! October is #NationalBookMonth, so to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the absolutely incredible authors that we’re proud to represent 🙌 Check them out below 👇 and get your copies wherever books are sold! 🟠 Jonathan Eig’s “King: A Life” is the first major biography in decades of the civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. — and the first to include recently declassified FBI files. 🟠 Wright Thompson’s “The Barn: The Secret History of a Murder in Mississippi” is a shocking and revelatory account of the murder of Emmett Till that lays bare how forces from around the world converged on the Mississippi Delta in the long lead-up to the crime, and how the truth was erased for so long. 🟠 J.C. Hallman’s “Say Anachra” is a compelling reckoning with the birth of women’s health that illuminates the sacrifices of a young woman who changed the world only to be forgotten by it — until now. 🟠 In “The Includers”, Colette Phillips shares stories of real Includers: all white male allies — she’s admired, known, and, in some cases, counseled. 🟠 Ben Austen’s “Correction” is a powerful exploration that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the process of parole. Austen’s unflinching storytelling forces us to reckon with some of the most profound questions underlying the country’s values around crime and punishment. 🟠 National political commentator Steve Phillips’s “How We Win the Civil War” helped chart the way forward for progressives and people of color, arguing that Democrats must recognize the nature of the fight we’re in, which is a contest between democracy and white supremacy left unresolved after the Civil War. 🟠 Drawing from historical and present-day example — including Black Lives Matter, Standing Rock, the Hip Hop Caucus, the Legacy Museum, and the Art for Justice Fund — Ken Grossinger’s “Art Works” offers a rich tapestry of tactics and successes that speak directly to the challenges and needs of today’s activists and of these political times.

Faith leaders are trusted voices in our society and play a vital role in speaking truth, advocating for religious freedom, and offering a clarion call for non-violence. Because misinformation about the election can potentially exist, Raben Faith Strategies is hosting a webinar on October 28 at 2:30 PM ET to hear directly from the experts about the election process and the safeguards to ensure it is free and fair. Join us for a free webinar featuring Bishop Claude Alexander, senior pastor at The Park Church in North Carolina and co-lead for Faiths United to Save Democracy; Amanda Carpenter, writer and editor at Protect Democracy and former communications director for Senator Ted Cruz; Rachel K., senior fellow for the Democracy, Conflict, and Governance Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace; Bill Kristol, editor-at-large at The Bulwark and former chief of staff for Vice President Dan Quayle; and Matthew Soerens, vice president of advocacy and policy at World Relief and national coordinator for the Evangelical Immigration Table. We hope to equip you to guide your institution and community should challenges to the election occur, including by helping direct people to accurate and unbiased sources of information. The Biden-Harris administration has now approved $74 billion in forgiveness for over ONE MILLION borrowers through Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Before President Biden took office, only 7,000 public service workers were approved for debt cancellation through PSLF. Communities across our country rely on public health, education, and safety services to contribute to a successful society. PSLF is a bipartisan program that serves as a tool to recruit and retain public service professionals by forgiving a borrower’s remaining federal student loan balance after 10 years of full-time public service and 120 qualifying loan repayments.  Since the PSLF Coalition was formed, we have worked to ensure that the PSLF program is accessible, forgiveness is achievable, and we reach as many eligible borrowers as possible. The promise of PSLF is real for the public service professionals who work on the front lines of our communities every day, but we have a lot more work to do. The #PSLFCoalition will continue to fight to ensure that the promise of PSLF is real for the public service professionals who work on the front lines of our communities every day. https://lnkd.in/eqidjZmb

Wearing my coaching hat, how's your election stress? Yes, mine too. Want to take collective action around the election with others? Me too. That's why I'm hosting a free, drop-in group coaching class from 9-10am ET over the next three Saturdays (Oct 12, 19 and 26) where we will where we will meditate, use coaching to tackle our fears, and commit to concrete actions we can take each week to save democracy. These gatherings are not just about action; they’re about restoring our nervous systems so that we can approach this election from a place of empowerment, not exhaustion. If you're interested, DM me for details and the links to join. Come to one or all three. Deep breath; we can do this.

President & CEO, Intersect Public Affairs

Twenty years ago, I joined Robert Raben and a handful of other amazingly talented people in opening the doors and building the political and progressive powerhouse that is Raben. It has been an incredibly successful ride and we have had the privilege to work with some of the most exceptional clients across the non-profit, foundation, tech and telecom, and entertainment media sectors. Today, I am extremely proud to announce a new chapter in my professional life through the launch of Intersect Public Affairs (Intersect). In speaking with my wife, Elizabeth Rodriguez, we discussed how my work has been guided by the desire to find alignment between the needs of the community, the goals of the private sector and the political priorities of our legislative branch. The success in driving policy many times comes from identifying the areas of common ground and shared interest in order to advance policy that serves and lifts the most number of people. It is through this conversation that Intersect became my next big professional endeavor. Intersect will draw from 20 years of experience and services to provide clients with the strategic counsel and policy guidance that best meets their needs. I am also excited to be able to continue to collaborate with the Raben team on many of my existing clients and projects such as the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino. Most importantly, I have the opportunity to grow in new areas here at home and internationally that are designed to have a tremendous impact on industry and community. And, that's very cool. :-) Over the course of the next few weeks, you will hear more about Intersect, it’s work, mission and people. I look forward to the weeks ahead and hope you will take the time to learn more, reach out, and join me on this exciting new chapter as a friend, colleague, vendor, client or simply a cheerleader. I know I could not have made it this far without so many of you, my clients, team Raben, and, of course, my familia. So, for now, I leave you with today’s announcement and a promise to keep you updated on the latest. Adelante!
