Congratulations again to our winners, ME Energy - Liquid Electricity GmbH and Låkril Technologies, for their remarkable work in transforming corn into bio-based chemicals and green energy solutions! 🚀 Iowa Corn Vice President, Mark Mueller, shared powerful words that capture the heart of this initiative: “As a farmer, it’s exciting to see companies like ME Energy - Liquid Electricity GmbH and Låkril Technologies tapping into corn’s potential as a feedstock, unlocking its many benefits and helping to drive its demand. 🏆🎉 And the winners of the Radicle Corn Value Chain Challenge Sponsored by US Corn Farmers are… 🎉🏆 We are thrilled to announce the outstanding teams that impressed our judges with their innovative solutions! 🥇 1st Place: ME Energy - Liquid Electricity GmbH GmbH Winning first place, and taking home a $1M investment prize, is me energy GmbH. me energy has developed unique technology enabling Rapid Chargers that generate climate-friendly electricity from low-cost ethanol. me energy’s portable, rapid chargers, powered by renewable energy such as corn bioethanol, can also create a new use for corn. The stations do not require a connection to the power grid because they generate their own electricity from sustainable bioethanol. 🥈 2nd Place: Låkril Technologies In second place, winning a $500,000 investment prize, is Låkril Technologies. Låkril’s bifunctional catalyst enables the efficient conversion of corn ethanol into bio-based acrylics, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional petrochemical methods. This innovation leverages renewable corn resources to produce acrylics, reducing carbon emissions and aligning with the growing demand for eco-friendly chemical production solutions. The four finalists selected have the potential to develop new uses and demand for corn. There is an abundance of corn as a renewable product and opportunities to use corn in sustainable fuels, chemicals, fabrics, and more ways that are yet to be discovered. As harvest begins and I head to the field, I know that I’ve done my best at growing a sustainable corn crop with the best technologies and practices available to me.
