  • SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS 2024: Joshua Madsen, Trinity Mozingo, Blake Branvold We asked these seniors: Why should a prospective student come to Nebraska and the Raikes School? ~~~ Joshua said: “The Raikes School is an incredibly tight-knit community where it is so easy to form lasting friendships. You are surrounded by a group of students who are experiencing many of the same things and are always willing to help. Nebraska as a whole offers so many opportunities to get involved in your passions and it is hard to beat the excitement of Husker gameday. You have all the benefits of the small community of the Raikes School and the resources of a large university.”  ~~~ Trinity said: “Nebraska and the Raikes School provide such an amazing experience! You are able to find strong community and friendships with a diverse group of peers. Not only do you have quality classes at the Raikes School, but the connections that the school has with companies helps you to grow in networking and career connections. ” ~~~ Blake said: “The Raikes School is such a unique opportunity to pursue both technical and non-technical disciplines that have both become so important in the tech industry but haven’t yet merged in education. You also become a member of a very unique and helpful community.” ~~~ We’ve loved having these seniors around the past four years, and we’re so excited to see all that they are able to accomplish in the next phase of their journeys! #UNL #RaikesSchool #SeniorSunday

  • SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS 2024: Angeline Luther, Dylan Araujo, Elizabeth WeberWe asked these seniors: What accomplishment are you most proud of from your time at Nebraska? ~~~ Angeline said: “I'm most proud of the work I've done within the Lunabotics team on campus. I was the team lead my junior year, and I learned so much through that experience. I especially enjoyed getting to try my hand at project management, which I've never done on such a large scale. I've had the opportunity to work with lots of passionate and intelligent people across the college of engineering and I was really proud of what we have managed to do despite tight deadlines and other limitations!” ~~~ Dylan said: “I believe I am most proud of the work I got to do in South Africa for Love Justice, a Christian non-profit fighting human trafficking. ” ~~~ Elizabeth said: “I am most proud of all the many new things I have tried and learned both inside and outside the classroom. Since freshman year, I have tried so many new experiences from learning how to code and swing dance, meeting so many different people, trying different internship and research experiences, and even going to Chicago for a summer internship when I had never been to the city before! I am also proud of my younger self for being willing to branch out and go to college out of state, I think I have grown so much as a person putting myself outside of my comfort zone and learning my way in a new place. ” ~~~ We’ve loved having these seniors around the past four years, and we’re so excited to see all that they are able to accomplish in the next phase of their journeys! #UNL #RaikesSchool #SeniorSunday

  • SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS 2024: Paul Owens, Jayden Rocha, Alex Miller We asked these seniors: Tell us about your favorite on-campus service or leadership experience. Paul said: “My favorite leadership experience was being president of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, also known as The Fratican. I learned how to manage an executive team and make tough decisions that ultimately won't please everyone.” Jayden said: “My most cherished service/leadership experience involves my role on the Newman Student Board at the St. Thomas Aquinas - Newman Center. The Newman Center has played a pivotal role in my personal and Catholic faith growth, making it highly fulfilling to contribute my time to organize and plan events aimed at sharing the Gospel with the UNL community. ” Alex said: “My favorite on-campus leadership experience has been with the Men's Ultimate Frisbee Club. I've been on the team all four years and made some of my closest friends there. I've been treasurer and spirit captain and having a voice in making changes for the team has been really awesome.” We’ve loved having these seniors around the past four years, and we’re so excited to see all that they are able to accomplish in the next phase of their journeys! #UNL #RaikesSchool #SeniorSunday

  • SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS 2024: Hannah Pokharel, Kellen Carney, Bridget Peterkin We asked these seniors: What accomplishment are you most proud of from your time at Nebraska? Hannah said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time in NHRI as a leadership mentor and tri-chair. Hanging out with my leadership mentee was always one of the best parts of my week, and it was awesome seeing our relationship grow over the years. Plus, it’s been great getting to know and learn from other mentors in the program!” Kellen said: “I was able to take a gap semester to study abroad in Spain and learn the language in my first semester of my junior year. I’m proud that I was able to pay for both UNL and the trip out of pocket and not incur any student loan debt from my time in college.” Bridget said: “The experience I am the most proud of though was my decision to study abroad fall semester my junior year. Before my cohort, there wasn’t much precedent of Raikes School students studying abroad, but I knew it was an experience that I wanted to have while in college. I am so proud of my decision to take a leap of faith and go for the experience. Living and studying in Amsterdam broadened my perspective in ways I didn’t expect and was such a fun formative experience. I urge everyone to try and take the road less traveled if it is something you want even if it’s a bit scary! ” We’ve loved having these seniors around the past four years, and we’re so excited to see all that they are able to accomplish in the next phase of their journeys! #UNL #RaikesSchool #SeniorSunday

I have met some of my best friends through the Raikes School and have been extremely fortunate to be a part of its community." ~~~ Tristan said: "You get both the benefits of a big and a small school. Nebraska's team spirit in every sport and the various opportunities on campus are incredible to witness. At the same time, the Raikes School gives you the benefits of a tight knit community you're able to lean on who knows the same experiences you're going through and the ability to ask just about anyone for help. " ~~~ Mitra said: "I was a freshman in the Raikes School right at the peak of the pandemic, and the Raikes School did an excellent job at making sure we still had a sense of community and safe contact with others. At a time that was isolating for many college students, being in the Raikes School meant that I was able to meet some of my best friends during the pandemic. The Raikes School continues to emphasize this sense of community over all four years of school and having access to the broader Nebraska community and resources is a big plus!" ~~~ We’ve loved having these seniors around the past four years, and we’re so excited to see all that they are able to accomplish in the next phase of their journeys! #UNL #RaikesSchool #SeniorSunday

  • SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS 2024: Teju Boinpally, Will Anderson, Jessica Chen We asked these seniors: What accomplishment are you most proud of from your time at Nebraska? ~~~ Teju said: "An accomplishment that I am most proud of is being able to be a part of the platinum project last year in Design Studio. My leads taught me everything I needed to know about how to lead my own team this year and were great role models. The hard work we put in and the fun times we had were really impactful, and our sponsor being excited to use our final product was so cool to experience. And being able to present with one of my leads at showcase was definitely a memoryI won't forget." ~~~ Will said: “During my Junior year, I had the opportunity to participate in the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) through Husker Venture Fund. Our team placed first in our regional, sending us to the global finals at UNC Chapel Hill, where we placed 3rd out of 8 teams. This experience was a testament to the welcoming startup environment in Nebraska, where startups and Venture Capital firms collaborate to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the state. ” ~~~ Jessica said: "Throughout my time at Nebraska, I have discovered new hobbies and cultivated my passion for them, such as climbing, scuba diving certified, and enjoying wines.
