It was an honor to participate in a panel discussion on unlocking data potential to enhance client engagement and programmatic performance alongside these inspiring women Carolina Rendon Nicole Reno Emily Peters, LPC ! I also had the pleasure of touring Retail, Arts, Innovation, & Livability Community Development Corporation (RAIL CDC) and witnesed the incredible strides they are making in the Mesa, Arizona community. I’m proud to be part of the nonprofit sector here at Wesley Community Center and to have connected with fellow leaders at the FOC National Convening as we strive to make meaningful social impact! #2024FinOpp #nonprofit #dataempowers

A salty and sweet combo on the menu in Mesa at Que Chevere, who went from a food truck to a restaurant on Main Street with the help of Retail, Arts, Innovation, & Livability Community Development Corporation (RAIL CDC). It makes us wonder: are LISC Phoenix and RAIL CDC also a salty and sweet combo? Or are we just getting hungry? https://lnkd.in/g85qUFvN
This Venezuelan restaurant serves the perfect sweet, salty combo in Mesa

Returned from the FOC National Convening in beautiful Mesa, Arizona, and feeling incredibly inspired! Mesa, known for its rich history as a cultural and agricultural hub, has transformed into a city focused on innovation, community development, and inclusivity. Hosting our National FOC Convening here was especially meaningful as we explored the intersection of economic opportunity and local resilience. The convening offered a powerful platform to share best practices, highlight national and local initiatives, and provide valuable insights that we can bring back to our communities as true convenors. I had the pleasure of attending sessions on Green Job talent pipelines through sector partnerships, Family Self Sufficiency partnerships, building digitally equitable futures and Financial Trauma (with an incredible keynote from Dr. Chloe McKenzie), I also toured the Mesa community, including a stop at Guerro Park and the impressive RAIL Community Development Corporation. This convening reminds me of the incredible work LISC is doing nationwide and how vital these convenings are in bringing us together to make an impact. I'm bringing this inspiration back to Virginia to continue driving change! The pictures are of me with some of Virginia's FOC network partners, a shot from Guerro Park, and some amazing artwork from the RAIL CDC Retail, Arts, Innovation, & Livability Community Development Corporation (RAIL CDC) #FOCConvening #LISC #MesaAZ #GreenJobs #FinancialTrauma #WorkforceDevelopment #CommunityImpact #FinOpp2024 #LISCVA

Last week we had a special visit from Ruth Jones Nichols, Ph.D., Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)'s new Executive Vice President for Local and National Programs. Around her responsibilities at the Financial Opportunity Center® national convening, we got to introduce her to a few of the folks who know our work and community best, join the conference tour of Mesa with Retail, Arts, Innovation, & Livability Community Development Corporation (RAIL CDC), see the impact of LISC investments in child care at Beautiful Oasis Childcare, and learn about Mayor Corey Woods' Hometown For All initiative with a personal tour.
