Most of the social-emotional growth of students can be situated in their relationships with adults in their lives. Raising Moxie provides tailored curriculum for educators and educational leaders, enhancing their knowledge of childhood development and psychological science. The program equips educators with specific skills for nurturing student growth, emphasizing long-term solutions for social-emotional development. The program empowers educators to best support the emotional needs of each student right in the classroom. Raising Moxie is about valuing students as individuals. Everything taught can be tailored to the individual student in their natural context. Raising Moxie values diversity, including but not limited to neurodiversity. And we encourage schools to draw from humanistic, evidence-based, and relevant pedagogical tools like structured literacy programs, and wellness tools like strong exercise programs and nutritional programs. There’s a number of reasons that Raising Moxie suits the needs of students who represent Neurodiversity. But most importantly, those who train in the Raising Moxie classroom learn a great deal about stress and how to increase or decrease stress in a child. They learn how to use circadian biology to bring down baseline stress levels so that the child can better take on the challenges of life and living and benefit from stress related growth. This is a model for thriving and everyone can thrive! The time is now to get psychological science out into the communities to better protect and support children. There are some other programs currently in the schools that are based in pseudoscience. I would describe such programs as teaching masking, at best, and feeding mental illness, at worst. Through Raising Moxie, we can give educational leaders and classroom teachers their power back. We can allow educators to nurture ALL students. Educational leaders and classroom teachers love what they learn in the Raising Moxie classsroom!

I’m not saying to chronically dish out severe stress on kids - definitely a bad idea. But don’t treat stress as just a problem to solve. When you do, you are teaching kids the very mechanism that makes stress more toxic, and you are also removing their opportunities to benefit from stress related growth.
