This week, Raley’s, the Sacramento Kings and Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada joined forces for VOA’s 2024 Operation Backpack Drive. Team members volunteered to assemble 2,550 backpacks filled with school supplies to ensure that homeless and at-risk youth in our local communities return to school with the basic supplies they need. In February 2024 we partnered with The Dairy Council of California and Legacy Healthy Endowment to launch My First 1,000 Days Initiative, where we provide culturally relevant nutrition education, resources and funds for mothers and families with children between 6 months and 2 years of age. These funds are used to purchase nutrition dense milk and dairy foods at our Raley's, Bel Air and Nob Hill stores.    Last month we had the opportunity to conduct a media event at our Newman, CA store, where Store Team Leader Debb Long and team have been championing this program!    All coupons go through our Something Extra loyalty program and is available to participants at all our stores!

Raley's is partnering with the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom to give teachers the opportunity to Taste and Teach! Selected teachers will receive a binder of helpful resources, including instructions on leading students in a taste test while meeting California Academic Standards. In addition, teachers will receive a $100 gift card to Raley's, Bel Air Markets and Nob Hill grocery stores to purchase featured California-grown commodities. Teachers can apply now through July 23, 2024, at https://lnkd.in/gaeVFmRB.   Additionally, the Raley’s Extra Credit Grants cycle is now open for the Fall. Earlier this month, we were able to take a tour of PRIDE Industries' Roseville operations facility. We learned about their packaging and fulfillment services, supply chain management services and much more. What were you doing in 1974?   That's when Craig Wong started his first job at Bel Air Markets and is now celebrating 50 years working with the company!   Throughout is career, Craig has worked in IT, Bel Air #501 in Sacramento as well as the Bel Air Support Center. He is a well-known resource to many, and a beloved member of his team. Last week, they celebrated him with lunch and a delicious Raley's cake while exchanging fond memories of the past 50 years of his journey with our amazing company!   We are grateful that he continues to enjoy the work and chooses to work with us each day! Last week, we held our annual Food For Families Golf Tournament in Napa! We raised over $215,000 toward our mission to alleviate hunger in our communities. Over Memorial Day weekend, we had the wonderful opportunity to support one of our local Jr. Livestock auctions – this time at the Sacramento County Fair! We were able to purchase and return some grand champion and market hogs, lamb and more to the kids! #FeelGoodFriday

In recognition of Memorial Day, all our stores will observe one minute of silence at 3pm today to honor America’s fallen heroes. We do this to express our gratitude to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.
