The Art Studio at RDG was among five artists selected by the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation and the Des Moines Airport for five large-scale installations throughout the new Des Moines International Terminal. All five artists were selected by a committee of representatives from the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation, the Des Moines Airport Authority and community stakeholders. The Art Studio at RDG’s design, envisioned by artist Matthew Niebuhr, will incorporate boldly colored “sentinels” along the approach that allude to the region’s native plants. https://loom.ly/khjU69k

Waukee High School and Waukee Northwest High School, with 1,268 and 1,325 students, respectively, have utilized the Waukee YMCA for their extremely successful swimming programs. The district sought a facility that would functionally accommodate both teams equally now and, more importantly, into the future. Comparable to some of the nation's best collegiate aquatic venues, this 50-meter stretch and 25-yard fast water competition pool will serve swim and dive programs from both schools. The design was driven by circulation and the critical need for spectators and student-athlete separation. Intentional and experiential circulation moves athletes to the desired performance space while directing spectators seamlessly to viewing areas. https://loom.ly/5vdH9D0

The Iowa Genealogical Society has announced plans to relocate to the historic Butler Mansion on the south side of downtown Des Moines, Iowa. The Des Moines Business Record spoke with various individuals involved in the development, including RDG Planning & Design Architect and Principal Matt Coen, AIA, to better understand the impact and intent of future plans for the 1930s-era building. Over the last year, the center’s design committee worked with RDG to create a redevelopment plan for the property. The design encompasses approximately 41,000 SF of space and creates a museum, cafe, courtyard, education and event spaces, eight bocce ball courts, and Airbnb-style lodging to allow for new or expanded educational, cultural and event offerings. https://loom.ly/nhqNWh4
