A DAO is an online community with a shared bank account which raises community awareness and money using cryptocurrency to invest in what are called projects. A project can range from a piece of digital art, to the rights to a song or even the purchase of a copy of the US Constitution. It's a way for internet users around the world, in a trusted environment to organize themselves in a safe and effective way to work with like-minded folks, worldwide. How DAOs Work A group of people come together around a common interest, and then they decide to pull capital together, [typically] using an Ethereum (form of Cryptocurrency) wallet. From there, they decide how to fund their DAO’s mission collectively, Many DAOs fall into one of two types: Those that manage open source, blockchain-based projects together and those that make investments. They can act similarly to limited liability companies (LLCs), VC firms or investment firms. Why Be Part of a DAO? A DAO allows the community also referred to as members or participants to vote freely from anywhere in the world on pertinent issues affecting the organization. A DAO eliminates traditional forms of governance, which are usually structures that encourage high levels of centralization and concentration of power.
