🚀 Productive Meeting of the MetReal Cluster! 🤝 Last week, on 31/10, we had a very fruitful hybrid meeting in Bonn at the Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte with our sister projects in the #MetReal cluster: Insafedare Project, More-EUROPA, ONCOVALUE, REALM_EU, and REDDIE-Diabetes. During the session, we updated each other on our projects' progress and next steps. We also discussed joint communication strategies and worked on creating and enhancing synergies in training concepts, among other topics. 📄 This week, the RWE4Decisions Secretariat attended the Real4Reg workshop “Insights into Stakeholder Needs”.   🔎 Real4Reg presented the insightful results of their stakeholder survey study, which aimed to explore the views and needs regarding RWE of key groups of stakeholders (Regulators and Industry, Academia, and Payers) concerned by collection and use of RWE, and have an overview of RWD usage.   It was followed by a rich panel discussion, where representatives from HTA bodies, academia, private stakeholders and industry agreed on the need for: ▶ Trainings specific and tailored to the needs and challenges faced by each group of stakeholders. ▶ Clarity and knowledge on what challenges and trainings other stakeholders are undertaking, for a more collective approach instead of separate silos.   EMA also provided insights on Real-World Evidence and training needs, covering their vision and activities on RWE, the main issues regulators face when dealing with RWE, and takeaways from their April 2024 reflection paper on the use of RWD in non-interventional studies to generate real-world evidence.   We look forward to seeing future stakeholder trainings on RWE take shape, and the future developments in the Real4Reg project!   👉 Read RWE4Decisions’ perspectives on Co-Creation of Real-World Evidence for Decision-Making, focusing on collaboration between regulators and HTA bodies/Payers: https://lnkd.in/eTx7tSaw 👉 See the full workshop agenda here: https://lnkd.in/dQj8HFrH INFARMED, I.P. Earlier this month, our team presented key findings at a joint conference in Dresden, bringing together nearly 2000 scientists across five German medical societies. We shared valuable insights from our #Real4Reg survey, and a presentation on the safety profile of fluoroquinolones gave an outlook on our project Use Case 3. 📢 Highlights from the ISPE Annual Meeting in Berlin Recently, Real4Reg members engaged in the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (#ISPE) Annual Meeting, held from August 24-28, 2024, in Berlin, celebrating 40 years of advancing pharmacoepidemiology! Some of the key highlights were: 💡 There was great interest in multi-database studies and the Real4Reg use cases, as well as methodological advances in real-world evidence (#RWE) study designs and #AI/#ML applications. 💡 Our members had valuable exchanges with other initiatives and leaders in the field, including colleagues from the #MetReal Cluster. 💡A special mention to our colleagues, Vera Ehrenstein (Aarhus University), who was a speaker at the Hot Topics debate on confounding control, and Julia Wicherski (Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte), who highlighted our Real4Reg project during her presentation on identifying patient groups at high risk of fluoroquinolone-associated potentially life-threatening adverse events in German routine care. All in all, our esteemed Real4Reg members were involved in several activities, including presenting 5 posters, giving 1 talk, and participating in 2 panel discussions.
