We are so pleased with Brittney Kenaston's piece on our CEO Ben Camp in this month's edition of InBusiness Magazine. She beautifully captured our patient-first mission: "We really want to make sure that we're covering the whole spectrum of care...so that when someone comes to our site, no matter where they are in their journey, there's something [on our site] for them." We just wrapped up crafting the new branding for Recovery.com this summer. Branding projects are always exciting but this one was extra special as the team and I have spent the last 2 years working on this product. Everything we learned we’ve infused into this new visual identity. "Crafting a visual identity for Recovery.com allowed us to step further into the shoes of those seeking a life in recovery. We gained empathy for how difficult it can be to find treatment and also found an even deeper appreciation for just how much joy and peace life in recovery can bring." (Team: Denada, Unlock Health, & Recovery.com) Read more about the project here ⤵

Yesterday, Ben Camp, Cliff McDonald and Andrew de Stadler headed to Green Bay for the Packers game at storied Lambeau Field. It wasn’t just to take in a game - it was also to see what a great brand looks like up close and learn from it. Sports, and in particular football, have great power to connect people. Here’s what Andrew, our VP of Marketing, had to say about the experience. “We drove into Green Bay and parked in someone’s front yard a few blocks from the stadium, the “old school” Lambeau way. Right away you got that community feel since you are in a residential neighborhood just outside an NFL stadium. We felt welcome right away (though we were very careful to only sparingly reveal that all 3 of us are from New England and *cough* Patriots fans).” And that feeling of community - of belonging - often means even more for those in recovery. “We’ve heard people in recovery describe walking into stadiums and feeling like they had found their new tribe, like they were having fun for the first time since they began their recovery. You can see why that’s the case, especially at special venues like Lambeau.” And it presents an opportunity to help those who are struggling. “We looked out at the stadium and wondered aloud how many people in the stands or watching at home were struggling and needed help, but weren’t sure where to look or how to take the first step. We hope to partner with the Packers in the future, to provide help and hope for those seeking treatment. We love having our headquarters in Wisconsin, so naturally we want to help Packers fans find the best resources, support, or treatment for their needs.” A big thank you to our host O'Reilly Gilliam and the many members of the Green Bay Packers organization that we got to meet. We are looking forward to seeing where this relationship can go. Go Pack Go!

There's a reason why Vulnerability is one of our core values at Recovery.com. We are all better together. Creating a culture where asking for help is the norm means that compassion and collaboration are simply the water we're swimming in.

Many competitive, high-achieving men haven't been taught to ask for help. It's seen as a weakness. We see "leaders" who never admit mistakes, never show doubt, never acknowledge anxiety. "I'm a self-made man” is something you hear a lot. But here's the truth: → No one is truly "self-made" → Everyone benefits from systems and infrastructure → We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before us Think about it: → You went to schools built by others → You use roads and technology developed by others → You've had mentors, teachers, and coaches along the way The myth of the "self-made" person is just that — a myth. And it's a dangerous one. It keeps us from asking for help when we need it, acknowledging our struggles, and supporting others in theirs. Real strength? It's in vulnerability. It's in admitting when we need support. Because here's the reality: The most successful people I know are those who've mastered the art of asking for help. So, next time you're tempted to call yourself "self-made," pause. Instead, try: "I'm fortunate. I've had support. And I'm still growing." It's not just more accurate. It's more powerful.

Cliff McDonald summed up our product in this perfect way: "We just provide really good information in an easily-accessible way."

Behavioral healthcare providers get high qualified patients when they work with us.  Why? The best care is specialized and personalized — and making the best match between patient and provider is critical to starting an effective recovery. Jeremiah Calvino and team built an intuitive platform with tons of filters that allows people to find behavioral health providers that are right for them. We don’t use tricks to get people to call some hotline. We just provide really good information in an easily-accessible way. So when people are ready for treatment, it’s a much higher probability that they’re connecting with the provider that’s right for them. This helps both sides in a two-sided marketplace. On one side: → We're making care access easier and simpler for patients → We're breaking down barriers to treatment On the other side: → We're helping providers run better businesses → We provide a new channel for providers to connect with patients → The more people use Recovery.com, the more people we can help The result? More people getting the help they need, when they need it. This is the power of a patient-centric, two-sided marketplace in behavioral health. And it’s the power of building a really great product.

Imagine a world in which transparency and authenticity trumped stigma. We can - and are working every day to move that needle.

Do you know any Fortune 1000 CEOs who are openly in recovery? I have a theory about why we don’t hear about them: Stigma. It's the same stigma that keeps millions suffering in silence. The same stigma that delays treatment for years. The same stigma that costs lives. But imagine if we could change this. Imagine if leaders at the highest levels felt comfortable sharing their recovery stories. → It would inspire others to seek help earlier → It would normalize conversations about mental health and addiction in the workplace → It would show that recovery and success aren't mutually exclusive - they can go hand in hand I dream of a day when being in recovery is seen as a strength in leadership, not a liability. Because those who've faced their demons and come out stronger? They have resilience, empathy, and perspective that you can't learn in an MBA program. I think we should celebrate recovery at all levels of business.

Our Team is getting their bags packed, studying the agenda, and bubbling with excitement about The Global Exchange conference. Who else is headed to Lake Buena Vista next week?

View profile for Ben Camp, graphic

    CEO & Co-Founder, Recovery.com | 🏳️🌈

This already feels like the biggest conference in the industry: The Global Exchange conference is only in its third year, but it’s done an incredible job bringing together remarkable speakers and attendees from all over the world. It was actually the first conference we ever sponsored, and it’s become a key event on our calendar. We always send a big contingent — from business development to research and content teams — because it’s a great place to learn and connect with people shaping the future of behavioral health. I’ll be there October 6-9, and I’m excited to see the energy and ideas that come out of it. What I’m most looking forward to: meeting experts from across the globe (like Fiona Y.!) who are leaders in their fields. I’m especially excited to hear Temple Grandin's presentation. Her work on autism and her ability to help the world understand “all kinds of minds” is truly inspiring. If you’re attending, let me know — would love to connect!
