Redbrick is pleased to share that Sycamore & Oak, an interim retail pavilion developed jointly with Emerson Collective and built entirely from mass timber, has won an award for Wood in Architecture from WoodWorks, a wood products council.   “The project fulfilled a goal to support the neighborhood, demonstrating how wood can be used to build a welcoming development by creating a space that fosters ‘community within a community.’”

Thank you, Nick Smoot and Aesop Industries, for visiting Sycamore & Oak and highlighting the work of our partners at Emerson Collective. As a developer, Redbrick LMD recognizes that real estate development isn't just about constructing buildings; it's about fostering vibrant communities where people can thrive.   “Sycamore & Oak’s success appears to be rooted in the genuine understanding of what the community needs and wants are. Rather than imposing an external vision, the developers engaged with local residents, business owners, and community leaders from the outset. This collaborative approach ensured that the project was shaped by the voices and desires of those it would serve.”   https://lnkd.in/g6RmRDfY

Today marks a significant milestone in Redbrick’s history as we celebrate topping out the Douglass, the anchor building of the Bridge District and the largest multifamily building in the world to seek ILFI Net Zero Carbon certification.   Topping out symbolizes not only the culmination of hard work and dedication but also marks a significant step forward in bringing our vision at the Bridge District to life.   We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional team of construction workers whose unwavering commitment has made this milestone possible. Also, thank you to our partner, HITT, for hosting a terrific Topping Out event!

Whitman Walker Health's Max Robinson Center has won an award for sustainable concrete from the Slag Cement Association.   According to World Cement, "Slag cement was used at 40 – 50% in footings, strap beams, columns, slab-on-grade, shear walls, foundation walls, and other concrete. The use of slag cement lowered carbon emissions and reduced the heat differential, which is especially important during large slab pours as it reduces thermal cracking."   https://lnkd.in/egqPFNNZ

On Feb 3rd, Redbrick won “The Best Owner for Prompt Change Order Process” from the American Subcontracting Association of Metro Washington.   Redbrick won this award because of our consistent involvement with ASA over the years, trying to smooth out the complex and frustrating Change Order process as well as eliminating misleading information on how change orders are reviewed, processed, and approved by Owners. Through many town hall type meetings and panels, Redbrick has worked with ASA on educating our subcontracting partners on how the process works on the owner’s side of the equation to get change orders paid efficiently.

A huge shoutout to Martha’s Table for the impactful work they do, increasing access to healthy food and supporting children and their families in making healthy choices.
