Sorting facilities and transit stations are encouraged to reach out to us to discuss our process for de-energizing lithium-ion batteries quickly and safely. These types of events are a symptom of local communities dealing with the accumulation of low-quality and unknown state of health batteries. There is a critical need for improved battery recycling infrastructure. Collection sites equipped with battery-specific technology are essential for safe storage, transport, and sorting. This approach will reduce risks to people, structures, and capital equipment, enabling the recovery and reuse of materials in new applications. Let’s work together to create a more efficient battery recycling ecosystem.

A great visit to Electric Goddess/Redivivus in El Segundo. A super competent team lead by Erika Lauren Guerrero, focusing on safe and efficent handling of lithium-ion batteries – from their early development to end of life. Redivivus is a solution for safe deactivation and pre-processing of batteries, a task that ideally should be dealt with as early in the end-of-life process as possible, but which often require large scale, centralised solutions. Redivivus solves that problem. For me the development of both Redivivus and several other interesting tech companies in California entering the battery end-of-life market (also had a great visit to Universe Energy and ReJoule) is a great example of how opportunities will continue to emerge as the amount of batteries reaching end of life is growing. Because the market is extremely plastic and will change not only based on what happens in the immediate market place but as much as what happen in adjacent markets such as EV and battery production, the used EV market, the auto repair industry and of course the more and more diverse energy storage market. Dynamics which not least are both having an impact on, and are impacted by, the prices of used batteries, something I was writing about in two recent posts here: https://lnkd.in/evxQMjqP and https://lnkd.in/eKfKVn5K What is clear though is that there will always be a need to solve problems in this growing market, no matter where batteries are made or where they eventually will be recycled. Investors should therefore look this way. This is a market that in volume will need to be 10 times bigger in 20 years from now. And the first places where opportunities obviously will arise are where batteries are placed on the market. Making California a great to place to be in if it wasn't already. ☀

Battery recycling doesn’t have to be expensive. It can be local. We’re equipping existing infrastructure with the tech needed to scale with the industry.

Our 2024 Recycling Behaviours Report demonstrated a third of people (33%) don’t realise disposing of batteries in kerbside bins can cause fires. The waste industry is seeing up to three fires per week across the country that can be attributed to batteries or battery-operated devices being thrown into kerbside bins. Keep our communities safe and never dispose of batteries into bins. Find a specialist drop off point near you instead by searching on the B-cycle website or checking with your local council. #sustainablefuture
