  • Regenstrief researchers and CDC's VISION Network have published one of the first real-world studies on RSV vaccine effectiveness. The study, published in The Lancet and conducted during the 2023-24 respiratory season, found that the RSV vaccine provided 80% protection against severe disease, hospitalization and death in adults 60 and older, including those with immunocompromising conditions. Regenstrief researchers Shaun Grannis, M.D., Brian Dixon, PhD, Colin Rogerson, M.D., Affiliate Scientist William Fadel, PhD, and Research Staff Scientist Katie Allen contributed to the study, highlighting the vaccine's critical role in protecting vulnerable populations. https://lnkd.in/gAA8NN36

  • Dr. Ryan Ellis is a new research scientist in the Center for Health Services Research at Regenstrief Institute. His research focuses on the optimization of complex cancer care delivery, specifically in patients with malignancies of the liver and pancreas.   • Chris Harle, PhD, will be inducted as one of 25 new ACMI fellows on November 10 in San Francisco, CA, at ceremonies during the American Medical Informatics Association 2024 Annual Symposium. Dr. Harle's research focuses on the design, adoption, use and value of health information systems.     Jill Inderstrodt, PhD, MPH, was awarded a five-year, $1.9 million CDC grant to improve healthcare for those with congenital heart defects. Brian Dixon, PhD, MPA, also joins the team as a Regenstrief researcher, Fairbanks School professor and interim director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics. Dr. Inderstrodt will lead a multidisciplinary team from IU Fairbanks School of Public Health, Regenstrief Institute, Indiana Department of Health, Riley Children's and local nonprofit organizations. https://lnkd.in/guFfPbqp

  • To address a workforce gap in nursing homes, Debra Litzelman, M.D., M.A., from Regenstrief and the IU School of Medicine have developed an innovative curriculum for nursing students with the goal of interesting more of them in care for older adults. This study introduces a curriculum, one of the first to use virtual standardized patients, that can be used in healthcare provider training programs worldwide. The annual event brings together global health professionals to foster connections and share experiences to build digital ecosystems that support secure and accurate information storage and exchange.
