About us

The Reinvention Lab is an exploratory space where we think about and build towards the future of learning. We use our power and privilege to accelerate, assemble, and amplify leaders and learners working toward reinvention. Together with youths, parents, and educators across the country, we hold up a mirror to ourselves and our systems, seek out radically different perspectives, and advocate fiercely for equitable innovation, including and especially at Teach For America. The Reinvention Lab is brought to you by the Scully Peretsman Foundation.

  • What will learning look like 75 years from now? We often ask ourselves and our communities this question, and Mike Yates answers it beautifully here. As technology reshapes how we live and work, education must evolve beyond industrial age models. It’s time to design learning experiences that are human-centered and equipped to tackle the challenges of a changing world. At the Reinvention Lab, we believe innovation must be tied to equity. It’s not about what’s “new,” but about how we can solve the biggest issue in education: inequity. By co-creating and reinventing radical models of learning, we can build a future where every young person thrives. What are your thoughts on innovative and equity-centered learning models? And what do YOU think learning should look like 75 years from now?

  • Last summer was FutureShock Round 2! ⚡⚡ Our interest-driven summer program empowered students to explore their skills and interests through 10 days of project-based learning, combining game-based experiences and emerging AI technology. These hands-on projects helped students connect their passions with real-world career pathways. At the heart of this program is one of our core values: Reinvention happens in an ecosystem. We don’t work in isolation. We build community, foster intergenerational collaboration, and challenge each other to move towards a better future. Where do you see these values in action? Shout out the places in your world where reinvention is happening, and let’s keep holding each other accountable to build a better future for young folks. https://lnkd.in/gDBPkQxa

  • Since the Lab launched in 2020, our work has evolved, and so have our values. What started as an aspirational way of working has now deepened into a truer reflection of how we show up each day. So (drumroll!) we have refreshed and codified a new set of values. Take a look at how we’re holding ourselves accountable to showing up: 🔗 Reinvention happens in an ecosystem: We build, challenge, and grow together in community while acknowledging our histories and seeking new perspectives, prioritizing intergenerational learning and creation. 💡 Reinvention calls for full humanity: We show up as our authentic selves, celebrating passion, joy, and care in all that we do. 🚀 Reinvention requires risk-taking and action: We move boldly towards the future, knowing progress means embracing imperfection and taking risks. 🔍 Reinvention demands realness: Transparency, honesty, and tough conversations are central to our work—because that’s where growth happens. ⚖️ Reinvention holds tension: We push, pause, think big, and start small. This is how we build sustainable, long-term change. We invite you to shout out where you see these values reflected in our team or across the reinvention ecosystem! https://lnkd.in/gmhk5M24

  • We were so honored when Breakthrough Collaborative invited Colleen Keating-Crawford to keynote their national conference. We joined BTC's 26 regional and national teams at National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, OH. And every Breakthrough team showed up to PLAY! Instead of sitting and getting, folks were so down to dig into real problems and start building real solutions. We can’t wait to see all the goodness that grows for students, families, and communities from the ideas seeded in this space today. Because y’all know at the Lab we deeply believe the words of adrienne maree brown, that “what happens on a small scale reverberates on the large.” Thank you for rocking with us, Breakthrough! Until next time ✌🏾 Teach For America

  • ✨Recap of our time at EdTech Week NYC✨ Day 1, we focused on solving real-world challenges in education with Partyrock AI. Participants created: ✅ A grade-level tracker to tackle chronic absenteeism ✅ An email bot for editing tone and clarity ✅ A classroom engagement bot to help beginning teachers connect with students ✅ A study tool that turns law school reading materials into study guides and quizzes Day 2, participants explored AI poetry tools, prompting thoughtful discussions around creativity—one of the most human qualities that AI will never replicate. While AI is a powerful tool, this week served as a reminder that creativity remains a distinctly human strength. What are your thoughts on leveraging AI to reimagine educational solutions? We’re curious to hear your perspectives. See what you can create with Partyrock AI here: This tool generates a poem for you: https://lnkd.in/ewZYjM3U This tool gives feedback on a poem you’ve created: https://lnkd.in/eHdKdggS

  • We love Catalyze and the Catalyze Challenge, and we were so grateful to be a grantee last year for our work on FutureShock. Would LOVE to see folks doing great work in the reinvention ecosystem apply for this—applications for Round Four are open until 10/17! 💁🏾♀️ From catalyzechallenge.org: “Round Four of the Catalyze Challenge will award a total of $4 million to four to five organizations that are ready to scale transformative, direct service career-connected learning solutions for learners aged 11-22. The Challenge will focus on two themes: career exploration for young adolescents and activating industry partnerships.” https://lnkd.in/eG9NYKzr
