ResiLoop Director, Dan Lovell (Karndean Designflooring AU NZ), chaired the inaugural ResiLoop AGM, which included some brilliant questions and lively discussions. Great to see this level of engagement and helpful input from Members! Dan took a moment to reflect that it was less than 3 years ago that the idea for ResiLoop first emerged at an Australian Resilient Flooring Association Inc meeting. Since then, ResiLoop has accomplished a lot, evolving into a stand-alone entity with 16 leading suppliers from the resilient flooring industry as members and a growing number of Associate Members.    ResiLoop has recycled over 50 tonnes of material, including 15T waste recovered since officially launching on 1st September this year. The focus, however, remains on the future growth of the scheme - its contribution to the 2030 National Waste Policy Action Plan targets and its determination to drive a circular mindset in the floorcovering industry. With a carefully coordinated expansion of Collection Points underway and Think Manufacturing as our first recycling partner, ResiLoop has a solid foundation and a target going forward of 30T a month. Members recognise that R&D is critical to enabling us to recover and recycle increasing volumes of resilient flooring — achievable only through working together.    Many thanks to our member representatives who joined the meeting and we extend our gratitude to Shaw Contract for hosting this milestone event.

ResiLoop’s CEO, Sophi MacMillan enjoyed participating in a panel discussion with the audience at the Waste Expo Australia 2024 in Melbourne today. The session, ‘Advancing Product Stewardship Schemes and Extended Producer Responsibility in Australia’ looked at the current state of #ProductStewardship in Australia, from the perspectives of the state government with Matt Genever, new schemes (ResiLoop and Seamless Danielle Kent) and the recycling sector with ACOR's Suzanne Toumbourou. With a highly engaged audience, we explored some of the challenges and possibilities in implementing and scaling these schemes. Key themes emerging here, and throughout the 2 days of conference, have been: ·      the challenge of scaling up reprocessing and #ManufacturingSolutions to deal with the high volumes of materials derived from imported product ·      the essential role #ProcurementPolicy plays in increasing demand for recycled content products and the need – especially in the infrastructure and construction sectors - to be brave in giving such new products a go ·      the need to develop a compelling business case to engage those placing product on the market to take responsibility, such as through market drivers and incentives that create competitive advantage for those who (really) are, versus those who are not. Failing this, regulation and mandatory schemes will come! ResiLoop is on the right path, challenging though it may be, and all our Members – suppliers, retailers and contractors – should be highly congratulated for taking #ResponsibleAction 👏 If you want to learn more about ResiLoop and how to get involved, feel free to contact the team at info@arfa.org.au at or visit our website for more insights. #CircularEconomy #RecyclingFlooring
