Did you know that hybrid #forklifts have been around almost as long as forklifts themselves? 🤔 It's true. Because businesses needed forklifts that could run for a full work shift, manufacturers experimented with different fuel types from the early years of material handling, discovering that lift trucks with various gasoline-electric hybrid engines were very effective. 📦 Then, in 1942, CLARK Material Handling Company introduced their first battery-powered forklift, called the “Carloader”, which was built to complete a full work shift on a single charge. 🔋 Flash forward and by 2010, more than 60% of all lift truck purchases were electric. ⚡ A few years later, the first lithium-ion #forkliftbatteries became widely available, making it possible for forklifts to charge faster and more frequently. 5. 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences chronic pain. 5 or more medications are being taken by almost everyone (98%) 65 and older. 5 may not seem like a big number, until you think about what it means. Studies have shown fewer medications = fewer harmful side effects and hospitalizations. But historically, Americans haven't been taking fewer medications. Now, more doctors are turning to treatment options other than drugs, like spinal cord stimulators for pain. And hospitals are incentivized to reduce repeat hospitalizations. For example, through the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP), hospitals must reduce avoidable readmissions to maximize their Medicare reimbursement. This means providing patients with the best treatment for their chronic conditions, at the hospital and at home. Which is why charging is key. Resonant Link's wireless charging allows patients to charge implanted devices like spinal cord stimulators while they move, so they avoid adverse side effects from sitting or laying still to recharge their devices. "Technology can help restore trust, by building stronger economies, by creating better-paid and more fulfilling jobs, and by scaling sustainability impact." It's up to us whether and how we accept this challenge, and join companies like Mercedes-Benz AG, Siemens, and Intel Corporation implementing #upskilling programs and using technology to increase economic and environmental #sustainability. 🌏 For us, the goal of technology is to improve people's lives, like using automated, contactless charging to eliminate unloved and unsafe work in manufacturing facilities and warehouses. Or pioneering new medical devices to meet unmet needs and improve #healthcare.⚕ It's a major reason we do the work we do. We all have impact. It's up to us what kind. #bettertogether
