Most employees already suspect they aren’t paid a fair salary. Only 37% of employees believe they’re paid fairly by their employer and nearly half believe they could make more money right now simply by switching jobs, according to a new survey by Employ’s 2022 Job Seeker Nation Report. Making more money by switching jobs is a consequence of pay compression. Employees have deemed more valuable by other companies, driving up new hire wages across the market. This is prevalent in the tech sector (and others). Companies want you to leave, get experience at other tech firms and come back with a broader knowledge base. Oracle is a primary example. I have heard of a worker who is on her 5th stint with Oracle, each time earning substantially more $$$ that previously earned. If you are looking to for a new job, you need to understand pay compression. Do not get caught up in the idea that it is a supply / demand issue. That is a small component. More ATS Optimizing resumes for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is crucial. Many ATS cannot read graphics, logos, charts, tables, icons, pictures, or multi-column formats. To improve your chances, include a headline, skills section, correct job titles, education, and 'City, ST and Zip.' Keywords from the job description are essential, but they don't guarantee success. Ensure your resume is ATS-friendly to increase your chances of getting noticed.

This helps you to prioritize those listings that are fresh and not the ones that are outdated, have been around for months without seriously hiring, or were listed weeks ago but were already filled—and the recruiter forgot to take it down. This makes even more sense when you consider the fact that according to ResumeBuilder, only 6% of companies keep ghost jobs active, on average, for less than one week. Hiring Manager - Social Media - Due Diligence Like it or not (I do not but I do not make the rules), recruiters do look at social media. One Harris Poll survey even found that 71% of hiring managers consider social media an effective screening tool. Take a close look at what the public can see on your social media platforms, like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. Are your profiles an accurate representation of who you are? More importantly, is your content appropriate, or would a recruiter balk at your posts?
