  • I sometimes get messages from job seekers who are driving themselves crazy trying to figure out what it is about them that’s turning hiring managers off and keeping them from even getting an interview.    They wonder if it’s their age, their experience, the gaps in their resume, or something else that, well, they can’t really change.    So they start feeling hopeless about their job prospects. Maybe they’re just not enough to land that job with the fantastic culture and amazing pay and great benefits.    They essentially ask me, “Should I settle for less?”    This question breaks my heart.    Because no, nobody should have to settle. But so many people end up settling simply because the conventional approach to job seeking sets us up to fail.    Think about it.   It’s like a full-time job just to find open positions that match your criteria, as you spend hours each day scrolling through job boards….    Then, when you finally do find a job worth applying for?    Hundreds of people have already applied... There’s the matter of tailoring your resume and cover letter to match the job description (which, let’s face it, is probably a jumble of vague jargon).    Finally, after doing your best to demonstrate that you are the “dynamic self-starter” the job posting asked for (whatever that means), you take a deep breath and hit send.   … All for a big, fat, nothing in return.    No interview.    No human response.    No clue if your resume was even read.    >>> It’s time to do something different in your job search.    This is where LinkedIn Unlocked comes in.    You’ll learn the job search tactics and LinkedIn secrets that 90% of job seekers have no idea exist.    Are you ready to think differently about your job search? Then join me in LinkedIn Unlocked today ⤵️   [https://lnkd.in/eQEYHtiu]   -Jessica Hernandez, CPBS, CDCS PS. Don't miss out! Enrollment for my self-paced LinkedIn job search course ends October 10th. • I received a message yesterday from a job seeker who said, "The market is slow. I've updated my resume and LinkedIn profile, and I'm connected to tons of recruiters. What should I do now?" Here are some next steps you can take in your job search: 1. Start engaging by commenting and liking your contact's updates on LinkedIn. Engaging with other's posts increases YOUR profile views by 4X. 2. Make a target company list. Research each company on LinkedIn, follow their page, and engage with their updates and sponsored posts. This increases your visibility and spotlights your profile when company recruiters view it. 3. See who you're connected to at your target companies and start having conversations. You're 4x more likely to get an interview if you have a connection. 4. See who you can connect to at your target companies (look for 2nd-degree connections). Don't limit yourself to hiring managers. Look for alumni connections they're 3x more likely to help. 5. Run a search on LinkedIn for hiring managers and decision-makers in your industry and at your target companies. Engage first and consistently. 6. Write content. Share your expertise in status updates. Again, 4X more profile views if you write and post content. 7. Apply to jobs posted on LinkedIn and look to see if the hiring manager's profile is attached to the post. If it is, reach out and message them. Do NOT use the AI-generated template. These are just 7 things you can do right here on LinkedIn to jumpstart your job search. Want more LinkedIn job search help? • 𝐈𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 "𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠" 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞... Hear me out, LinkedIn job seekers. 🧐 In a world of "Ninja," "Guru," and "Unicorn" titles, let's take a moment to appreciate the straightforward, dare I say "boring," LinkedIn profile. Why? Because: ✅ It's clear (no decoding required) ✅ It's searchable (recruiters love this one weird trick) ✅ It's professional (sorry, "Chief Happiness Officer") Don't get me wrong. Personality is great. But when it comes to executive job searching, clarity trumps creativity. So go ahead, embrace that "Director of Marketing" title. Your future employer will thank you (and so will your career). P.S. If you still want to unleash your inner unicorn, save it for the company holiday party. Jessica Hernandez, CPBS, CDCS

  • Hey Job Seekers, let's talk LinkedIn outreach. I've seen it all when it comes to connecting with hiring managers on LinkedIn. From the good to the bad to the "oh honey, no." But there are a few mistakes that stand out as true classics. Today, I'm breaking down the 5 most iconic LinkedIn outreach mistakes I've encountered, and more importantly, how to sidestep them... Mistake #1: Messaging inactive LinkedIn users. Pro tip: Check their activity before reaching out. Active users are more likely to respond! Mistake #2: Asking for favors right away. Build rapport first! Engage with their content before making any requests. Mistake #3: Using generic connection requests. Personalize your message and mention common points of interest. Mistake #4: Focusing solely on the hiring manager. Don't overlook other valuable connections at your target company! Mistake #5: Sending the same message to everyone. Tailor your outreach based on the recipient's role and your relationship. Learn how to craft the perfect LinkedIn message to hiring managers: https://lnkd.in/exS_U4r4 Jessica Hernandez, CPBS, CDCS
