Our statement on the election: Our mission at Rewiring America has been the same since day one: Make efficient, electric machines affordable for households and communities. It’s about helping families purchase the appliances that will make their lives better. These are upgrades people deserve to have the freedom to choose — if they want cleaner, cheaper, and more comfortable machines in their homes. Since the IRA, companies have made $900 billion in clean energy and manufacturing investments, and Americans have upgraded their homes to the tune of $8.4 billion. When you see the money and energy pouring into clean energy projects in districts throughout the country, you know the clean energy boom is unstoppable, even as its pace must be scaled and accelerated in the coming years. Our project is an enduring one, rooted in our commitment to helping households go electric. But it is also about benefits to community, all across this country, where generating clean energy at home is a win-win-win — from local jobs to improved air quality to greater resilience. We will continue to work to give America the freedom to choose better. ⚡

The power of community-led climate action is our source of hope for the future. Rewiring Australia’s Kristen McDonald knows this first-hand. Kristen leads our mobilisation and engagement activities, where she works with communities across Australia who are leading the charge in building a national electrification movement. We are excited to be in Wollongong to support the official launch of the Electrify 2515 Community Pilot! The ground-breaking project will see 500 homes in the Illawarra region of NSW electrified, after a two-year campaign led by the local community. The Electrify 2515 Community Pilot is an $11.8 million partnership between Rewiring Australia, Brighte, and Endeavour Energy with $5.4 million in federal funding through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). The project is a major step towards electrifying all Australian households to reduce energy bills and emissions. It was an honour to be joined by Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen, Federal Member for Cunningham Alison Byrne, Brighte CEO Katherine McConnell, Endeavour Energy CEO Guy Chalkley and ARENA CEO Darren Miller, not to mention Laura Scalafiotti - founding Electrify 2515 volunteer and Thirroul resident, join our chief scientist Saul Griffith and executive director Dan Cass for the official launch. The pilot will provide real-world data on a concentrated and rapid electrification of a community, measuring consumer behaviour, attitudes and energy bill savings.
