RFK Community Alliance's name carries on the life and legacy of Robert F. Kennedy by helping children, adults, and families who face challenges and don't always have privilege or a voice. Today, our hearts are with the Kennedy family, and particularly Joe and Matt Kennedy, who carry on their grandfather’s legacy through serving as long-standing Trustees for RFK Community Alliance. Mrs. Kennedy was herself a strong and tireless advocate for social justice and a loving and committed mother and grandmother who did not let her husband’s untimely passing stand in the way of their shared passion for advocating for human rights. In fact, she dedicated her life to making others’ lives better and we are immensely grateful to her for that. Staff Spotlight on Juliet Ochoa, Program Coordinator for the Detention Diversion Advocacy Program in Hampden County. Juliet has been working for RFK Community Alliance since May 2010, starting as a Childcare Worker (CCW) at Tinkam Road, Boys Detention. Soon after, she became a Supervisor. With the experience she gained, Juliet was able to work at the South Hadley Girls Program, where she found herself wanting to support youth on a different level. That’s when the Youth Advocate position opened up for DDAP. As a Youth Advocate, Juliet worked closely with the Hampden County Juvenile Courts, supporting and encouraging our youth as they navigated difficult situations. She involved families and youth in therapy with outside resources, such as individual and family therapy, job searches, community service, and other support systems. Juliet followed through to ensure that the youth were abiding by their court conditions. Over time, she was promoted to Program Coordinator, gaining valuable experience and building many relationships within the community, including with judges, probation officers, defense attorneys, politicians, educators, parents, and family-engaged organizations. Juliet lives by the quote, "Where there is no struggle, there is no strength," by Oprah Winfrey. To learn more about DDAP, visit https://lnkd.in/e68nYZhe
