🤖 Carnegie Mellon Achieves Robotics Innovation Center Milestone 🎉 CMU celebrated a major milestone for the Robotics Innovation Center (RIC) in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood Green with a topping-off ceremony. Attendees, including Carnegie Mellon University President Farnam Jahanian, signed one of the final structural beams, marking the progress. Set to complete in 2025, the RIC will add 150,000 sq. ft. of research space, including a 50,000 sq. ft. indoor robot test facility, open-layout wet lab, and a 1.5-acre outdoor lab with a 6,000 sq. ft. drone cage. This $45 million project, funded by the Richard King Mellon Foundation, aims to boost innovation in robotics and AI. “Innovations generated here at the RIC have the potential to transform the world and its economies,” said Sam Reiman of the Richard King Mellon Foundation. The RIC will also support STEM education and #WorkforceDevelopment in Pittsburgh, with spaces open to the community. It was great to see so many familiar faces at the signing. https://lnkd.in/evUviiDr #Robotics #Innovation #AI #CMU #HazelwoodGreen #ResearchAndDevelopment #STEM #EconomicGrowth #Pittsburgh
