Supporting a friend who is struggling with mental health and substance use can make a huge difference. Here are some ways you can help: 💙Listen without judgment – Sometimes, all they need is someone to listen. Let them talk and express their feelings without fear of being judged. 💙Encourage professional help – Gently suggest they seek support from a counselor, therapist, or a recovery program, like those offered at Rise Recovery. Offer to help them find resources or attend an appointment. 💙Be patient – Recovery and mental health challenges can take time, and setbacks may happen. Be patient and continue to show your support. 💙Stay connected – Regularly check in on them, whether it’s through a message or spending time together. Knowing someone cares can be incredibly reassuring. 💙Offer practical help – Sometimes small acts, like helping them find resources, going with them to a support group, or assisting with day-to-day tasks, can take some of the pressure off. 💙Set boundaries – Protect your own mental health by setting boundaries. It’s important to offer support while ensuring you’re not overwhelmed. 💙Encourage healthy habits – Invite them to engage in activities that support their well-being, such as exercise, mindfulness, or creative outlets. Remember, your support can make a big difference, but it’s important to encourage professional guidance and resources along the way. We are here for you if you need support! Call us at 210-227-2634
