75% of Riveters identify as first-generation college students. 💪 Meet Sidney, a first-generation college student and full-time employee at Rocketship Public Schools. Alongside her six siblings, Sidney was encouraged to secure her future by pursuing higher education. After Sidney tried out community college and online universities, she felt discouraged time and time again until she found Rivet School. Honoring her late father, Sidney is now on track to graduate with a Bachelor's of Arts in Business Management through SNHU, and has also inspired her mother to do the same. Sid said, “Growing up, I didn't have parents [with degrees] to look up to in this way, but now I can be the one to inspire them." Chicago, here we come! Rivet School is launching a new partnership with Noble Schools, Chicago’s largest charter school network, to amplify our impact. Rivet School will be absorbing Noble Forward, which has served as Noble’s in-house program to support their alumni and staff to and through college. This unique partnership is the result of ongoing collaboration with Noble’s leadership and support from Charter School Growth Fund, who continues to invest in innovative approaches to postsecondary pathways. The problems students face in higher education aren’t limited by geography. Expanding to Chicago is aligned with Rivet School’s larger vision and growth strategy to enroll hundreds of students in the coming years. In fact, we’re already serving students outside the Bay Area, through partnerships with Da Vinci Schools in Los Angeles and TNTP in Las Vegas. Our virtual-first model allows us to enroll new students wherever they live and work, but we know that having strong partners on the ground makes all the difference. And none of this would be possible without our deep partnership with Southern New Hampshire University, whose innovative online degree programs make this virtual-first approach work. I’m eager to engage with our new friends in Chicago, so reach out if you have connections, ideas, or advice as we prepare to serve this new community. Special thanks to Eric Rapp and Aidé Acosta, Ph.D., who led Noble Forward to achieve incredible results over the years, and who will continue to build on those outcomes through this new partnership. And a shout out to our team, especially Iris Jong and Nora J. Maxwell, for putting in the work to get this across the finish line.
