Dr. Robert Prucka, one of RHBSSI’s legacy professors, was recently elected one of the newest fellows in SAE International, an association of about 200,000 members. The SAE Fellow Membership designation is awarded to an elite group of professionals in the automotive, commercial vehicle, and aerospace industries who have made a significant impact on mobility. They elect only about 20 new fellows a year, making it an exceptional professional distinction. Prucka’s dedication to automotive research and education of future automobile engineers has made him the ideal candidate for this honor. We are so proud of Dr. Prucka and cannot wait to see what he does next! To learn more, click here: https://lnkd.in/ermZ2zva

We are delighted to have amazing Clemson University faculty like Rikishi T. Smith-Rey, Ph.D. from sports communication, and many others from departments and sports programs across campus, in our cohort of fellows! #ClemsonFamily
Man, I have absolutely loved my time as a faculty fellow at the Robert H. Brooks Sports Science Institute the last couple of years. This semester we had the opportunity to have a VIP experience at the NASCAR races and I was awarded the RHBSSI GRIT Award for engaging significantly in teaching and mentoring Clemson students in the sports sciences over the last three years. Above all though, I've had the opportunity to meet incredible scholars across campus and discuss meaningful and impactful sport research. Go Tigers!

We couldn't have asked for a better 'events' intern to help launch RECESS this year! Thank you, Kyler Blose, and team for making our first-ever sports science symposium a success. #ClemsonStudents
🎉 After months of planning and preparation, the Robert H. Brooks Sports Science Institute presented our first annual RECESS symposium last Thursday night! I truly enjoyed organizing this event, as it allowed me to apply the skills I’ve developed throughout my college journey in a real-world setting and prepare to be a main voice for my events in the near future. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome or a better team to do this with!!! We had so much fun taking pictures with the Cub, celebrating our amazing faculty's research, playing a few rounds of mini golf, and enjoying everyone's live demonstrations. I am so excited to see how RECESS grows in the future and thankful that I had the opportunity to be a part of this fun night! Thank you to Natalie Bell for these photos; you are awesome!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃👻 We got into the Halloween spirit with a team meeting featuring some rather wicked costumes! At the meeting, we recapped RECESS and highlighted some of the positives of the event. We also discussed what we have in the pipeline, so get ready for more spook-tacular events and speakers. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Halloween from all of us at the RHBSSI (and CU Summer Scholars)!

UPDATE: Please note that the location for tonight’s documentary film screening has changed to Freeman Auditorium (078) across the street from Hunter Hall. Time remains the same. Join us TONIGHT at 6 PM in the Hunter Auditorium (Room 100) for the premiere film screening of Felipe Bertazzo Tobar's documentary film, “The Match That Not Every Club Wants to Play”. This 35-minute documentary is about Real Madrid’s and FC St. Pauli’s experiences from authoritarian regimes and shows how heritage and tourism can promote historical awareness and inaccurate pasts. Come enjoy light refreshments while watching this innovative film. To RSVP, click here: https://lnkd.in/e9Ysn4FY

On October 18, RHBSSI sponsored the Brook T. Smith Launchpad’s inaugural Sports Entrepreneurship Symposium. At the event, Interim Director, John DesJardins, spoke on sports science and education at Clemson University. Did you know that Clemson offers over 55 courses in sport, spanning 15 departments and 7 colleges? The event consisted of a multitude of guest speakers and panel discussions, spanning topics from AI’s impact on data analysis to new business opportunities through NIL. We look forward to working with Clemson Entrepreneurs more in the future. To learn more about the symposium as well as the sport courses offered at Clemson, click here: https://lnkd.in/ezFxpTDU
