"When we talk about access to care, it gives people the opportunity to have a mammogram when they don't have the ability to have that done in their town." - George Fish, RRH Mobile Mammo Unit Tech 🩷 For the past 5 years, our Mobile Mammography Unit 🚌 has been on the move across our communities, bringing essential breast cancer screenings to patients in 8 counties, including areas where patients may have a difficult time accessing mammography services. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month (and all year round!) we are especially grateful for the hard work of our Mobile Mammography team, to the community organizations who have sponsored this essential service, and to the many partners we've had over the years who have hosted screening events. ➡️ Learn more about our Mobile Mammography Unit: https://lnkd.in/gyEw_DxD

We were proud to be the presenting sponsor for the Making Strides walk in Rochester on Sunday, marking an incredible 16 years of partnership in the battle against breast cancer! 🙌🩷 Despite the cold and rain, we had a great time with all the attendees, volunteers, and community members who showed up with smiles on their faces and in every possible shade of pink. For every breast cancer journey, we're here for it — and we're so grateful for all who have joined us in this mission!

As the country grapples with nationwide physician shortages, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) - including the many incredible APPs right here at Rochester Regional Health - are stepping up to ensure high-quality care is accessible to all. By allowing APPs to use the full extent of their education, experience, and license - and in the case of our NPs, allowing them to carry their own patient panels, we are witnessing significant improvements in patient outcomes and satisfaction. Empowering APPs to practice at the top of their license isn't just a regulatory advancement - it's a move towards a more efficient, patient-centered healthcare model. In a recent article for the Rochester Business Journal, Selma Mujezinovic DNP, FNP- BC, Vice President, Advanced Practice Providers, talks about the vital role of APPs in our community, our health system, and in patient care. As we kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're pleased to share a personal story from one of our very own Lipson Cancer Institute team members, Ann Dewar. 🌸 Eleven years ago, Ann found a lump during a self-exam and went on to receive an official breast cancer diagnosis, which was followed by a double mastectomy and chemotherapy to help both treat the cancer and prevent it from returning. Now, Ann works directly with with the many patients who walk through our doors at Lipson, hopeful that those going through their own cancer journey might be comforted to know that like them, she's been there too. 🩷

🎉 Celebrating an extra sweet milestone: 25 years ago this month, our August Family Birth Place welcomed its very first newborn at Park Ridge Hospital (now known as Unity Hospital)! With the area's first open courtyard, alternative labor therapies, and homelike rooms, the founding staff members of the August Family Birth Place hoped to offer families a "one-of-a-kind" birthing experience. And now, 32,000 deliveries and 25 years later, the sentiment remains the same (as do five of the unit's original nurses, who are still on the team today!). 🙏 Thank you to the August family, all of our team members, our volunteers, and of course, all of the patients and families who have trusted us with their care - we look forward to being here for the community for many more years to come. ➡️ Read more about the August Family Birth Place's anniversary and what our nurses had to say about it here: https://lnkd.in/g-BHQTUr
