As we kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're pleased to share a personal story from one of our very own Lipson Cancer Institute team members, Ann Dewar. 🌸 Eleven years ago, Ann found a lump during a self-exam and went on to receive an official breast cancer diagnosis, which was followed by a double mastectomy and chemotherapy to help both treat the cancer and prevent it from returning. Now, Ann works directly with with the many patients who walk through our doors at Lipson, hopeful that those going through their own cancer journey might be comforted to know that like them, she's been there too. 🩷

🎉 Celebrating an extra sweet milestone: 25 years ago this month, our August Family Birth Place welcomed its very first newborn at Park Ridge Hospital (now known as Unity Hospital)! With the area's first open courtyard, alternative labor therapies, and homelike rooms, the founding staff members of the August Family Birth Place hoped to offer families a "one-of-a-kind" birthing experience. And now, 32,000 deliveries and 25 years later, the sentiment remains the same (as do five of the unit's original nurses, who are still on the team today!). 🙏 Thank you to the August family, all of our team members, our volunteers, and of course, all of the patients and families who have trusted us with their care - we look forward to being here for the community for many more years to come. ➡️ Read more about the August Family Birth Place's anniversary and what our nurses had to say about it here: https://lnkd.in/g-BHQTUr

Earlier this week, we held our 45th Annual Golf Classic, in memory of Ralph P. DeStephano. It was a beautiful day, and we were thrilled to see all the supporters who turned out to take part in this meaningful event held in honor of someone whose own life touched so many in our community. From our sponsors to the golfers, volunteers and team members, everybody played their part in making this day an incredible one! Even our Orthopedic & PT teams were in attendance, making sure our golfers stayed in peak physical condition. 😉 🏌♀️ An extra special thank you goes out to all who made this event possible. With your help, we were able to raise over $250,000 to support the health system and our mission of providing exceptional care to patients all across the communities we serve!

It's been an exciting week for our patients and team members in the St. Lawrence Region! 🎉 On September 17, we officially opened the brand new Emergency Department at Canton-Potsdam Hospital to patients, marking the completion of phase 1 for our new Regional Care Pavilion in the North Country. The remainder of our Regional Care Pavilion is expected to open in late October, following a Grand Opening Celebration, where team and community members will be able to tour our new main lobby and patient rooms prior to their official open date. Many thanks again to all who have made this beautiful, innovative new facility possible so far, so we can ensure that no matter where our patients live, We're Here for It.

Thomas Golisano announced a $20 million award to Rochester Regional Health as part of a larger $360 million donation to 82 nonprofits across upstate New York. “I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Tom Golisano for this extraordinarily generous $20 million gift, which will profoundly impact the future of Rochester Regional Health and the communities we serve," said Richard (Chip) Davis, PhD.
