On a trip to Sunlight Basin after her cornea transplant, Kelly realized how much she had been missing over the years. Kelly had been making accommodations and adjustments for years to help her live with worsening eyesight due to Fuchs' dystrophy. Kelly's gratitude for a second chance at full sight shines through each day. Kelly pairs her gratitude with stories of cornea donors like Crickett. Becky, Crickett's mother, shares the story of her daughter's selfless gift of sight with others to remind them to live life fully and to help others when they can. Both of these strong women say they encourage others to say YES to eye, organ, and tissue donation because they know the power of donation and how it can change and heal lives. A local Yoder resident and donor mother, Becky Volmer, recently shared her daughter Crickett's story as part of the Circle of Light Photo Project exhibit. Becky shared how her daughter's decision to be an eye, organ, and tissue donor led to a legacy of restored sight for another. Future possiblitiies! Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank (RMLEB) had a great day yesterday participating at the Colorado HOSA - Future Health Professionals conference. HOSA-Future Health Professionals' mission is to empower future health professionals to become leaders in the community through education, collaboration, and experience. Here, students experience corneal blindness with special glasses and try to complete a maze. By connecting with RMLEB, they learn about career opportunities in eye banking, eye tissue donation, and transplantation.
