First African American Woman to Buy A Block on Baltimore’s Waterfront (Canton Harbor)

This morning I had the honor of accepting the prestigious Torchbearer Award from the The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter. As a newly inducted member of the coalition, receiving this honor from my coalition sisters in a room of 600 plus Black women representing sisterhood groups including the National Council of Negro Women, The Links, Jack and Jill, The Divine Nine and so many other Women of Power was truly something to behold. As I take all of these moments in and truly reflect and digest what it means to be a history maker, and a torchbearer, and a trailblazer - I am encourage in moments like these when I look out into a room full of women that look like me looking back at me, holding me up and having my back, I am strengthened by our collective strength as I walk this journey, THANK YOU #NCBW100 truly for bestowing such an honor upon me. Lastly, Thank you Congressman Hon. Kweisi Mfume so much for accepting my invitation to attend. Your support, presence, and words were invaluable. #Humbled #Grateful ❤️🙏🏾

If there is one thing I love just as much as making media, it is teaching media. I’m so excited to partner up with Arts Every Day and facilitate this upcoming teacher professional development training. Today was game day Baltimore Ravens vs Dallas Cowboys in an away game and I was invited by DCAC the Downtown Cultural Arts Center to pull up for their tailgate and game watch party and drop some gems on how I became a Media Mogul and bought the block on Canton‘s waterfront. Let me just tell y’all, this wasn’t no average crowd. The fellas in this room were a group of lifelong friends who pull their resources together to build up neighborhoods and communities throughout Baltimore City. They do it individually, running their own businesses, and collectively through their real estate development group buying properties together and rebuilding neighborhoods including the one they grew up in. It was truly a vibe and truly a blessing to see what they have built together. Thank you fellas for having me and for allowing me time and space in your space welcoming me in for future opportunities to collaborate. Let me just say collaboration hits different when you know the Brothas got your back. 💯❤️ Downtown Cultural Arts Center Terra Cafe

Today’s stop on my speaker’s series led me back to my hometown of Philadelphia where I was the keynote speaker at my Alma Mater, my high school, Murrell Dobbins Vocational School for the 2025 senior class pinning ceremony. Emotions ebbed and flowed as the nostalgia of being back in the halls of my adored high school to spending time with my classmate, their now Principal, Dr. Shervon Thompson to standing in the now renamed Coach Dawn Staley @staley05 gymnasium delivering the speech, to the realization that this year 30 years ago I sat were these students sat as a senior of the Class of 1994!! I delivered a message of encouragement to this next graduating class that they take their senior year seriously, understanding that true giants have walked through these halls, true legacy and history makers have walked these halls, and that our wins are their wins and that we see them even from afar, we are always rooting for them. When I see them I see myself and it is my hope that when they see me they see themselves - and they see what is possible. Because if it could happen for me, it could happen for them — and please let’s be clear as alum we got their backs. For us once a Mustang always a Mustang - #Mustang4Life 🔥🔥 Truly THANK YOU Principal Thompson for having me today. You blessed me more than you could imagine.🙏🏾 #Grateful

Tonight’s SOLD OUT Fireside Chat with Dr. Vonnya moderated by Marc Clarke hosted by Body Basics Wellness Center in Baltimore County was something else y’all. In attendance were city council representation from Baltimore County, Prince Georges County - educators from Baltimore County, Prince George’s County, Montgomery County - university and banking leaders were present - AND a few attendees who simply follow me on social media. ❤️ To see such representation across so many county lines come out mid week in the evening to meet and greet with me, and hear my story - - well I can’t begin to put into words. #Humbled #Grateful 🙏🏾 Here’s what I really found interesting… while many expressed they found my storytelling to be quite engaging and captivating 🥰 when opened up for Q & A, instead of asking questions of me, they used this intimate time together to pour back into me - sharing how my story has moved them and motivated them to push and to take a chance on themselves and to try something out of the box. Wow… just wow!! So here’s what I’m gonna say - When you are obedient to what you are led to do, you have no idea, the ways things will move on your behalf. 💯 I started the speaker series with my own goals, objectives, and intentions - while remaining open of course to how the experience will take on a life of its own. But truly just three days into this tour, I have made new friendships, new relationships - soon to be partnerships that I would’ve never imagined. And here’s the thing y’all- I’m just getting started. 🙌🏾 #Repost: bodybasics_wellness We had a powerhouse event tonight with “Meet the Media Mogul” @vonnyarooted Speaker Series Event Dr. Vonnya Pettigrew’s journey from Philly to Baltimore to owning a waterfront property is nothing short of amazing and inspirational! Dr. Pettigrew shared her incredible story about purchasing the block on the waterfront in Baltimore. From vision to reality, her determination and passion for revitalizing the community is inspiring and truly resonates with many. Her words reminded us all that with hard work and a clear vision, anything is possible. Let's continue to uplift and inspire one another!
