The work of Ross Barney Architects on the Chicago Riverwalk will be prominently featured in the U.S. Pavilion during the 19th International Architecture Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia, alongside the work of 52 esteemed colleagues, in May 2025. For more information, click here: https://lnkd.in/gfntXx-U This exhibition highlights built work from the 21st century, showcasing architectural and design excellence that aligns with the U.S. Pavilion's PORCH theme, "An Architecture of Generosity," as well as the theme of Biennale Architettura 2025, "Intelligens: Natural. Artificial. Collective." “The 2025 U.S. Pavilion will showcase the power of architecture to shape and reflect our American communities, ecologies, cultures, and stories,” said Justin Garrett Moore, FAICP, Program Director, Humanities in Place, Mellon Foundation. “The selected participants offer creative and generous solutions to the challenges for how we make and share space, engage in civic life, and build and maintain more equitable and beautiful places for all.” “I was most impressed by the range and diversity of the different interpretations of PORCH and its role as a public place of gathering, community, and civic purpose,” said Marlon Blackwell, FAIA, Founding Partner and Design Director, Marlon Blackwell Architects. During a sold-out event at the Chicago Architecture Center's Architect Talk and Book Signing, Carol Ross Barney, FAIA, Founder and Design Principal of Ross Barney Architects, addressed a question from Reed Kroloff, Dean and Rowe Family College of Architecture Endowed Chair at IIT College of Architecture: Carol shared an insight on the often idealized view of architectural projects, stating, “There is a misconception that great projects happen harmoniously with deliriously happy clients and designers… that’s a myth. Tension and compromise are essential parts of the creative process.” https://lnkd.in/ePxEyCH8

Have you had the chance to view Disrupters at the Chicago Architecture Center? You still have a chance! Closing January 5, the exhibition honors women in architecture over 5 decades in the City of Chicago. 🎟 Follow the link in the post below to get your ticket.
Just opened and running through November 15, the DISRUPTERS exhibition at the Chicago Architecture Center celebrates the legacy of Chicago women who have shaped architecture and design in the Windy City and beyond. This story is told through the unique lens of Chicago Women in Architecture (CWA), a trailblazing professional group that turned 50 this year. DISRUPTERS charts a course of female accomplishment in the design industry beginning with the pioneering founders of CWA who fought against gender-based discrimination. These leaders made important inroads with representation and opportunity in the workplace. The exhibition traces these ripples through successive milestones and substantial gains of women in the profession. It reveals CWA’s progress over five decades and the positive impact the group continues to make. The exhibition was developed in partnership with CWA, Wink Design Atelier, Ross Barney Architects, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and with support from the Illinois Office of Tourism. #CWA #Disrupters #architecture #design #ChicagoWomenInArchitecture Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g8v__P5S
