The three biggest days in #RotaryMember Elizabeth Villafranca’s life would be: 1️⃣ The day she was born 2️⃣ The day her daughter was born 3️⃣ The day of her near-death experience When she was 13 years old, Elizabeth experienced horrible pain in her abdomen. During surgery, her aorta was accidentally ruptured turning an overnight hospital stay into a week of intensive care. She calls this her moment 💛 “Every time I try to retrace my life, I always go back to that moment because that was the moment everything changed in my mind. That’s where the joy comes from and the gratitude because I understood that none of us are guaranteed anything. I try to live a life of gratitude and joy. I was raised to believe that no matter your background or circumstances, we all have something we can do to help someone else.”

What advice would you give for any Mexican American women that are younger than you?
"Slay ladies, slay. We have to stop playing small. I think women in general, we tend to make ourselves small in so many ways. We need to shine, we are here for a purpose. So my advice to ladies is shine, be you, do everything, be eccentric, it doesn't matter what anybody says."

To teach as many of the country’s 1.4 billion people as he can about the importance of organ donation. Srivatsa's journey started with donating his kidney to his brother, a neurosurgeon and member of the Rotary Club of Bangalore, India. A love letter to Rotary Youth Exchange 💌 "The first thing I saw in Pindamonhangaba, Brazil, was the Rotary club that welcomed me. Being part of their community projects gave me great memories and taught me Rotary's philosophy: "Service Above Self," for which I am very grateful to all of them. When you are in another country far from your family, it's easy to feel lonely, but that never happened to me because I already had another family that made me feel at home. Thanks to the Rotary Youth Exchange, I know that I have a friend in every part of the world. Never stop being an exchange student who marvels at the world and, despite the challenges, wants to explore it." -Andrés Esquivel Breceda, Rotex District 4110 Thank you for sharing your story 🗺️✈️
